Richard Baughn Family Ad in HD 14

Richard Baughn is airing this ad in House District 14 where he is challenging Democratic incumbent Ken Guin.

Looks like a wholesome family number in response to the negative spot Guin put up against Baughn.

    Great job kids!

  • Good

Think I trust the kids over Guin paying the ex wife to read the script he wrote.

  • NoKoolAid4Me

Nice job. I pray that you will have the strength and character needed for this ugly game called politics. I am sure it will get worse. Hang in there!

First rate ad! Exhibits class, sincerity, wholesomeness…..everything the opponent’s doesn’t.

  • Proud AEA member

Who went negative first best I recall it was the Jimmy Hoffa Teamster Richard Braughn who sent out his big house and fancy car mailer….that was probally printed by Republican Chairman Mike Hubbard’s printing company.

  • Tony fromTownley

AEA Member, you really aren’t helping your cause.

  • Proud AEA member

Answer the question who went negative first?

  • Susan Corbin (Willingham)

I am the only sister to Lisa Corbin Baughn. I discouraged her from making on making a political ad for fear of pain that would be inflicted on her children. Lisa desperately needs peace from a final divorce from Richard. However, nothing justifies hurting your family in the name of politics. It was a huge production error with each individual involved. Each individual should write letters of aplogy to Lisa’s children. Prayers and peace to all.

  • Tony fromTownley

AEA, I consider Ken went negative first by collecting two paychecks from two state colleges for the same work. That’s a huge negative in my book.

Susan, I fear your sister has been drug into this entire mess by Mr. Guin. I do pray peace for her and good health. Personal issues such as this should have remained personal but yet when they are brought out into the public, everyone is going to have an opinion whether those opinions are right or wrong.

  • Walker Countian

AEA Member – take Tony’s advice.
    Enough is enough.

  • Susan Corbin (Willingham)

I am the only sister to Lisa Corbin Baughn. You should not say anything negative about Lisa that is slander. You should not say anything negative about Richard Baughn in public either. Vote and please keep things to yourself. I asked ALL of you to cast the first stone. You should stick to the political facts. These people have children. You need compassion for them. Enough is enough. Lawsuits for slander cam be created. STOP.

If Richard Baughn can’t take care of his own family, how is he going to take care of the people of Alabama, or the people in his district?

There’s a pretty clear choice in this race. Ken Guin has brought home money for schools and roads. He has been a solid leader for our area for over 16 years. He brings results. Richard Baughn apparently brings the Jerry Springer show.

  • Tony fromTownley

You said a mouth full there Anonymous. 16 years! In 16 years I would think any representative would bring some money for roads and schools. 16 years to far too long for one person to hold any office. Go Richard Baughn.

  • Sam

    Anonymous,

The only $ Ken is worried about is the $ going into his pocket. Tripple dipping out of the 2 year college system is just one example of Ken’s “great leadership” over his past term of office. He has been in office way too long and I believe Richard is the blue collar type person who will represent our district for the right reason: for the good of the people, instead of putting $ in his pocket like Ken obviously has.

  • Newjunkie

Richard Baughn went negative first. Just sayin’.

  • Tony fromTownley

Newjunkie, As I posted last night, I consider Ken went negative first by collecting two paychecks from two state colleges for the same work. That’s a huge negative in my book. Just sayin.

  • Matt

Who cares who went negative first??? That’s not what this is about. Some political attacks are entirely appropriate. For example, the fact that someone votes themself a raise, engages in double (or triple) dipping, or voted for a large tax increase. There are republicans and democrats who have done all of the above while in office, and that’s fair game. What’s not fair game is a candidate’s family. Any candidate who runs the kinds of things that Guin and Little have been running is way out of line. Despicably out of line. And that goes for every candidate of both parties. Families and family life should be off limits. No wonder so many good people are not willing to run for office! Ken Guin and Zeb Little should be ashamed of themselves. I sincerely hope the voters of their respective districts give them a serious thrashing on November 2.

  • Sam

    Newjunkie,

Tripple-dipping, pay raise, the list goes on and on. In no way whatsoever should Ken have attacked his family. Just proves what a politician Ken really is, he is desperate to get a vote anyway he can.

  • guin

Pointing out Guin’s abuse of power is not negative. I’m sure Guin reacted negatively to it, but that doesn’t make it negative.

Let’s see personal attacks using divorce records and half-truths with an ex-wife on camera or factual mail that details factual evidence that Ken Guin fleeced the taxpayers for his own benefit…lemme know which one is negative.

  • Tired of attacks

Not only is Guin guilty of the double-dipping, he’s a key player in deciding whether or not good legislation ever gets to the floor of the House for debate or a vote, and all too often it’s only those bills that his party deems appropriate. Wonder why we don’t have ethics reform? Those bills aren’t allowed out of committee. He’s part of the problem, not the solution. I hope that the voters of his district will think about the entire state of Alabama, and not just the pork that Guin has brought home. Guin needs to be sent packing.

Great ad by Baughn’s kids and I hope they can all find peace and healing within their family.

  • anonymous

I don’t need Richard Baughn or Ken Guin or any other politician to “take care” of me and my family, Anonymous. That’s the problem with the mentality of you liberals.

  • Cory Baughn

To call what has happened to my family the “Jerry Springer Show” is extremely offensive. Whoever wrote that, whoever you are, you should truly be ashamed.

In response to the claims of my father being unable to “support” our family, my father fully supports my sister and myself to the point that neither of us have to fit in work to our college schedules. I have never had a job in college, never paid rent, and never bought a grocery the past 4 1/2 years at UAB. If he supports the District HALF as good as he does my sister and myself, the results will be dramatic and amazing. And I know he will. He is in this to bring change where it has not been seen for a long time.

  • Folsom4ever

Kenny boy is one of the reasons we’re having such a hard time this year. His bad actions and poor polling is pulling down Jim’s numbers in that part of Alabama.

  • Walker Countian

Bravo Cory!! Wonderful ad you and your sister did….to the point, sincere, positive, genuine and heartfelt. Proves one doesn’t need to go negative and nasty. To have children like y’all speaks well of your dad.

I trust you father to represent us well in Montgomery…..he will be the epitome of a true servant of the people (and not the other way around).

Ken Guin, a father himself, ought to hide his head in shame at the low he stooped to. Blessings to you and your fine family.

  • Woody

AEA Member… You DO remember who arranged for so many double dipping jobs don’t you? And who directed Seth Hammett to put money in the budget for a job for now-jail-bird Rep. Sue Schmitz. If not, let me refresh your memory… it was your super hero Paul Hubbert.

And, your other super hero, triple-dipping ripoff artist Ken Guin is another of Hubbert’s puppets.

You “proud” AEA chumps keep good company.

  • illrember

    Cory,

My parents were supportive to me, and I did fit work into my full-time college schedule. I paid my own rent, bought my own groceries, and even bought my own clothes. My parents provided me support in a different way. I am thankful that, at 16, I had a job and I was forced to learn to juggle student government, my other clubs, and athletics with that job. It has taught me an incredible work ethic.

  • melissa mays

    cory,
Everyone no’s the truth,so keep the focus on winning this election your dad is the only real winner here! Dont waste ur energy on trying to talk to these people thats so far up Guin butt they cant see for themself how he has used us ALL like a dish rag-yet his supporters keep askn for more!!! I got ur back on this talking trash about ur dad,hes the man thats fixn to make Guin history! Beep-beep,i am still honking my horn for RICHARD BAUGHN!!!! Toot-toot! lol!

  • Susan Corbin (Willingham)

The ads are truly REAL to how Cory and Katie Baughn are in real life. Both children graduated at the top of their class at Lynn High School. Richard and Lisa were a great team with raising them through high school. Richard was part of our family for 25 years. It is tragic the way things have turned out. My sister has made some bad choices. Who has not made mistakes at one time or another? Man cannot judge. That is God’s role. I am proud of Katie and Cory to have stayed positive and focused on their academics. They present very high IQ’s. No one can challenge those genetics. Lastly, I am amazed at how many FOOLS that voice an opinion just to hear their voice. I have changed my prayer channel to the foolish. Katie and Cory will survive this challenge.

  • Newsjunkie

“I have never had a job in college, never paid rent, and never bought a grocery the past 4 1/2 years at UAB.”

Democrats don’t do it this way. We have to work to put ourselves through school. It must be nice to have a free ride. I would have been able to graduate at the top too if I hadn’t had to worry about whether I should put gas in my car or pay for groceries. Some people have it too easy.

  • Cory Baughn

I’ve never had a job in college. Every summer in college however, I’ve either had a job at Rafter King sorting lumber or a job at Artec Tractor where I put in a 9 hour work day. I also have two United States Post Offices I landscape and keep trimmed. I use that throughout the year to assist with my living expenses. My father allows me to focus on college when college is in session, and work when I can. I appreciate him for that, and I have done well in college. I suppose I forgot to mention that part.

  • Susan Corbin Willingham

A work ethic has been instilled in Cory Baughn since a very young child. He worked hard manuel labor for many of his things. Never once did the kid complain. So, Mr. Newsjunkie- You are a poor reader. READ BETWEEN THE LINES. Cory Baughn is so brillant that college scholarships were offered all over the country. Richard Baughn is a smart man. It is called good genetics. The combination of being taught to work hard and a genius mind makes Cory in a league of his own. Kudos, job well done, Richard. I am sure Richard will raise the bar for DISTRICT 14 just like he has the children.

  • Carbon Hill Gal

I think when voters who are undecided on who to vote for and need some direction they should come to the canidates home town and look around. Ken Guin has done NOTHING for his home town, except maybe get his wife the principal job. He is a non functioning citizen in this town. Any person who is divorced can relate to what your ex would say about you. It is VERY wrong to involve a family in this, these are kids who have to go out and function every day. Looks to me that Ken doesnt have anything good to say that he has done, just making up and paying people to say bad about Richard. I think Richard is a fine man, and he cant do much worse.

  • District 14 Voter

Cory, the support of your Dad from you and your sister has not gone without notice. I admire you, your sister and your Dad for the strength you have shown. I realize this can’t be easy but hold your heads up and be proud. Good things DO come to those who deserve them!

  • Just reading these comments and thought I couldn’t miss the opportunity to put my two cents in. I unfortunately live in Carbon Hill; moved here about 2yrs ago, however I graduated from Lynn and my family and I have known the Baughns for years. I have lived in numerous places in this fine state and this is by far the worse place ever !! There is no morale here and obviously nothing here for the people in this town but drugs. So as a citizen of CH, what have you Mr Ken Guin done for this town? All I know is you have stooped to the lowest of lows when using someones family whoes for your own gain. Shame on you ( the one who cares about children), what goes around comes around and your family is certainly not exempt !! I really wonder how you sleep at night. By the way my children are already back at Lynn and cant wait to get out of here. Go Richard Baughns !! God bless you and your family. Please have mercy on Ken Guin and his family and this pitiful little corrupt town.

Legislative Dispatch

A Look from the Rearview Mirror

This Thursday will mark the last day of the legislative Session.  For some, it was a Session that seemed would never end.  For others, it was one that ended much too quickly.  It may be early, yet, to write an obit on this Session, but as we approach the finish line, some perspective may be in order.

Putting Students First

As you know, a very important piece of legislation will be presented for our consideration in the House tomorrow in Montgomery – Senate Bill 310 – the “Students First” tenure and fair dismissal reform bill. Like me, many House members have been inundated with phone calls and emails from opponents of this bill, and some have been [...]

Legislative Transparency

There are a lot of issues to debate before we begin the final days of this session. In fact, I am quite certain there will be some comments on this post debating many of them. Before we get into the last seven day of the session I wanted to bring up a topic that [...]
