ALGOP Chair Mike Hubbard has demanded and received the resignation of Marengo County GOP Chair Andy Renner. Renner’s desire to identify RINO’s led to the creation of the True Republican PAC and the involvement of Democratic Party Vice Chair Paul Hubbert in ads that attacked GOP gubernatorial candidate Bradley Byrne.
Hat tip to reader B.
Update: Renner says he was not asked to resign.

Unworthy! Unworthy! Pookie: I crown you king of metaphors.
Check the latest polls Josey. It isn’t the guy drawing 12 people in Homewood and hanging out at Jack’s.
Carolyn that’s the same poll that showed Bentley at 12% right before the primary. Bradley paid for that poll through Hubbard. It’s cooked – and it’s STILL almost within the margin of error.
It’s kind of funny that an allegedly “independent” poll is on the Byrne website before it is released to media. It’s a fraud – and even as a fraud shows the race a “dead heat” over the last week.
Bentley may hang out at Jack’s, it’s true. Byrne of course hangs out with Jacques as he sips fine French wines while yachting . . . .
That’s no independent poll. I was sitting with someone at lunch who got a message on his cell phone from “Byrne for Alabama” with the release. It was not on the website of the firm that commissioned the poll yet and it had not been released to media. But Byrne’s website already had it up. This is a Byrne poll.
The most significant thing about it is that Byrne doesn’t try to claim anything more than a MOE lead. They know it would not be plausible to try.
And the poll apparently did NOT allow for crosover votes AT ALL.
THAT is supposed to be accurate? How?
Carolyn, the poll you reference was done by the same polling firm that showed Kay Bailey Hutchinson leading Rick Perry in Texas by 2%. Perry creamed her with 22%.
Byrne’s poling firm has been described as frequently working for campaigns on life support.
Byrne’s “polling firm” Voter/Consumer Research also “polled” the Rand Paul/Trey Grayson race and showed Grayson 2% ahead.
Rand Paul cleaned Grayson’s clock by nearly 25%.
This firm has NO credibilty.
Carolyn, I could talk to you about numerous polls. Bentley’s polls, Byrne’s polls, PSA, Rasmussen, etc. Only Byrne’s show him even close to competing.
Interesting, huh?
Carolyn, how about if Byrne wins, I’ll identify myself; but if Bentley wins, you identify yourself? What do you think?
Josey – better bet: If Byrne wins DANNY IDs you on this site, but if Bentley wins Danny IDS Carolyn.
Take a gander at THIS Carolyn

PRESS RELEASE: Robert Bentley in Wide Lead over Bradley Byrne; McMillan and Grace Too Close to Call According to Independent Poll
VIEW POLLSTER ANALYSIS HERE
MONTGOMERY, Alabama (July 8, 2010) – A poll conducted this week commissioned by a Montgomery political strategy, media and public relations firm shows Robert Bentley in a commanding lead over Bradley Byrne in the Republican run-off for Governor. Agriculture Commission candidates Dorman Grace and John McMillan are virtually tied with a fairly large number of undecided voters.
Public Strategy Associates, a Montgomery-based company, announced the results of the poll conducted the evening of July 5, 2010 by Baselice and Associates, an Austin, Texas polling firm whose clients include Governor Rick Perry (R-Texas) and Governor Arnold Swarzenegger (R-California). Public Strategy Associates is not in the employ of any gubernatorial candidate.
In phone surveys by Baselice & Associates with 1,003 highly likely Republican primary runoff voters, the race for Governor of Alabama shows Dr. Bentley some 20 points ahead of Mr. Byrne with only 13 percent undecided. Bentley is at 53% percent, and Byrne at 33% percent.
Don’t flatter yourself, Josey. I don’t care who you are.
Danny, did you see this?

Interesting….the difference in this account and the B’ham News one.
But everyone cares who you are Carolyn because we all want to call you out.
Concerned citizen look over in the small town thingie over there –> you’ll see it.
and to other matters, when the topic becomes the commenters themselves have both sides conceded their points are moot?
Anonymous, Carolyn is 2010′s wife.
I think you might be surprised and I suppose I should be flattered that you care. Not sure why I have garnered so much hostility from the host of anonymous posters on here. Guess the truth hurts.
I can’t tell you who I am, Josey, but here’s a hint–Bush 43 called me “evil genius.”
I have no clue who Carolyn is but I think I have narrowed it down to Ann Colter, Laura Ingraham or Michelle Malkin.
Goo clearly is Dick Cheney. Whatever you do, if he invites you to go hunting, fake an injury or feign a prior engagement.
Nah…Carolyn is Trotter, or at least a campaign regular.
Actually, it’s not that interesting – just like my identity. At the end of the day, Carolyn will be forgotten in the clean up, while I will get lost amidst the victory partiers.
I’m not sure how many times I have to say that I’m not a Byrne staffer or Derek Trotter before Josey believes me, but I’ll try one more time. I’m a regular voter that pays attention to AL politics and supports Byrne. How any Republican can support Bentley after he has openly taken support from Democrats and is asking Democrats to come over and vote for him is beyond me. Maybe if I was actually a political operative of some sort I would understand that phenomenon.
