A group called “Tea Party of Alabama” is not quite as it is represented in an email blast sent out under its name.
The email is headed “Tea Party Voter Guide Attorney General” and begins with “Greetings from the Alabama Tea Party!” The “voter guide” goes on to give reasons why Troy King is a more appealing candidate than Luther Strange. (Click here to see an image of the email.)
At the bottom the email reads “If you would like to be removed from our mailing list write 909 White Ave., P.O. Box 4611, Orange Beach, AL 36561, or call 1-866-489-0643…”
Numerous problems here indicate that someone is trying to pull a fast one.
- Neither Google Maps nor the USPS Zip Code lookup recognizes 909 White Avenue as a valid street address in Orange Beach.
- The Zip Code lookup site does not recognize a p.o. box number as high as 4611 as being valid in Orange Beach.
- The provided phone number is a contact number for the Christian Coalition of Alabama. Christian Coalition of Alabama Chairman Randy Brinson tells the Political Parlor that there is no connection between the email and the Christian Coalition of Alabama.
- In addition, the website mentioned in the email, TeaPartyAL.org, is not as old as it looks. The site has posts dated as far back as March 3, but a quick peek at whois tells us that the site was created twelve days ago on May 18.
If you have more information about this, I’m glad to hear it.
Thanks to reader Don for bringing the email to our attention.

There was a conviction in Jefferson County for useing a false disclaimer on a campaign piece. This might be the second conviction.
Too funny – Troy King now has his imaginary friends endorsing him.
This looks similar to something the Democrats tried in Michigan to kill the tea party by funding a fake group:
http://nicedeb.wordpress.com/2010/05/17/soros-and-dem-party-behind-fake-tea-party-group-in-mi/
With his connection to the Alabama Democrats, I wonder if this is something brewed up by Troy King’s new advisor (see last week’s post about the Troy King’s new ace political advisor — http://www.politicalparlor.net/wp/2010/05/28/king-campaign-contracts-kinney/)
Who the heck would prosecute? If Troy King involved why would he prosecute his friends. He has proven over an over he won’t do that (2 yr college, illegal gambling, winner of 500+ jackpots Larry langford, on and on). I sure hope the media and law enforcement gets to the bottom of this one. Could it be a coincidence that this is the same day Democrat advisor Phillip Kinney came on as Troy King’s new consultant. Pitiful! Hijacking the tea party’s name and using it in vain. Troy King you are truly desparate to save your sinking campaign.
Looks like a Chris Brown production.
Typical tactic for Troy King supporters.
It IS Brinson through his company Optimum Impact who contracts to send the emails through vbuttons.com. The subject for the email is VERY similar to what the “Christian” Coalition of Alabama sends.
The plug for Bentley is very Brinson-esque too.
Suppose none of you political “experts” have thought to consider who might gain from this. Can we say Luther Strange?
I suspect someone in the Milton McGregor or Ronnie Gilley camp is up to no good. Maybe the FBI needs to follow this one up.
Randy Brinson is so in the tank for Troy King it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he was behind these bogus emails. Brinson also has the know how. He owns a company called optimum impact that does email blasts for canidates. Bentley has spent over 50k with Brinsons company. TROY KING IS ALSO A CLIENT. Brinson has an obvious conflict of interest between being head of the Christian Coalition and president of Optimum Impact that does for profit business with canidates.
I know exactly who did this. It wasn’t Brinson or King. It is a wacko from North Alabama that has been kicked out of Conservative organization after Conservative organization. She has been banned from the TEA Parties in that area and this is her revenge.
She’s a tinfoil hat wearing lunatic that makes Squeaky Fromme look rational. She has threatened state and national candidates, national organizations and Alabama TEA Party organizers and their members. The very mention of her name involved with a campaign has discredited otherwise legitimate candidates.
I hear that some of the TEA Party organizers in North Alabama are hoping she’ll endorse Parker Griffith just so he’ll lose.
Maybe it is another spin-off from the lunatic fringe that created other non-legit organization websites such as the Alabama Tea Party Express.
Anyone know of the Alabama Tea Party Express and the gals that are behind that sham of a site?
Danny, I know you’re wrapped up today, but do you know what time that blast email went out?
This guy must be investigated for mis- use of 501-C3 monies. Also, the fact that he has fickticious names on emails, and email addresses.
I’ve got you and your buddy dead to rights on this one, “Juliana”. It’s amateur hour and it’s so obvious. Oh…the state of Oklahoma wants you on that “failure to appear”…
NoItsNot,
The one that was forwarded to me was timestamped 9:04 AM yesterday morning. I received my own copy at 10:55 AM.
