Chip could have saved everyone a lot of time & money, if he had just ran with his own party, the Democrats.

I wonder why no one wants to run as a Democrat anymore?

By the time these two were disqualified by the GOP, the deadline to file as a Democrat had passed.

How does Dem.Congressman Bright get away with endorsing Hari Anne Smith when there is a Democrat in the race? Does the Democratic Party have no rules or moral compass in this matter?

  • 2010

Has Bright endorsed Harri Anne Smith? That is the political kiss of death right now.

Stop spreading lies and rumors. Bright has not endorsed anybody. And Harri Ann is wildly popular.

Bobby Bright was on WTVY news all day yesterday. They kept running it. He said Hari Anne did the right thing 2 years ago in endorsing him. He said Hari Anne helped him, and he would help her. Ask anyone in Dothan.

    “wildly” popular? with who?

All Smith will do is split the Democrat vote in a Republican district.

  • Anyone attempting to blast Bright or Smith are pulling straws and most likely smoking crack. Both are good people and have done an excellent job promoting their values and voting the way most people of their districts have asked them to do.

Neither has sided with their party and voted on legislation just like their parties have wanted them to. Although, neither one is afraid to vote their own convictions, thank God. It takes what is commonly referred to my friends as BACKBONE and this is what BOTH of these individuals share in common. Both have proven track records and ARE NOT voting PUPPETS for their party’s. We need more politicians to be like them whom is willing to stand up for what is best for Alabama 02 and District 29. ( Plain and simple )

Get It Right, You got it completely right. Legislators need to remember who put them in office. It’s not the Republican or Democratic party, it’s the people they represent. I think Smith saw that Bright was a better candidate and could not support the other guy just because they were in the same party. That tells me she at least has some convictions about her. I hope she beats the pants off her opponents. Boy will that send a message. One that might be quite hard to swallow for some!

Political parties that select nominees for general elections can not exclude candidates based on arbitrary “party rules.”

This goes back to the 1944 Smith v Allwright decision where democrats in Texas decided only white people could vote in their primaries because they were a “private club” and could set their own rules:

saying smith has backbone and true convictions shows a lack of knowledge about her history.

  • CC Dollar

bright has done a great job and it will reflect on smith for helping to put him there…so what that a handfull of of former supporters have dumped her..shes made that up ten fold and they can’t hardly stand it…

  • HASvoted4Obama

CC, The only reason HAS endorsed Bright was because Love and the other Republicans wouldn’t payoff her campaign debt!!HAS cares only about HAS!!You need to wake up!!

  • HASvoted4Obama

Maybe HAS will be head of the Geneva County Green Party and still be a lifelong Republican!!

  • PD

No matter how Bobby Bright voted, the one vote that should do him in is his vote for Nancy Pelosi…. And now we ALL have healthcare!!! Keep voting for the Dems and let’s see what we get next

A Look from the Rearview Mirror

This Thursday will mark the last day of the legislative Session.  For some, it was a Session that seemed would never end.  For others, it was one that ended much too quickly.  It may be early, yet, to write an obit on this Session, but as we approach the finish line, some perspective may be in order.

Putting Students First

As you know, a very important piece of legislation will be presented for our consideration in the House tomorrow in Montgomery – Senate Bill 310 – the “Students First” tenure and fair dismissal reform bill. Like me, many House members have been inundated with phone calls and emails from opponents of this bill, and some have been [...]

Legislative Transparency

There are a lot of issues to debate before we begin the final days of this session. In fact, I am quite certain there will be some comments on this post debating many of them. Before we get into the last seven day of the session I wanted to bring up a topic that [...]
