This postcard postmarked in 1906 is labelled “Court House, Athens, Ala.” Numerous horse-and-buggy tandems are lined up near the courthouse, even beyond the water tower. Many people appear to be milling around.
You can see buildings to the right of the courthouse, but I am impressed by how spacious the grounds around the courthouse are. Is that a bench in the middle of the horses on or near the path leading to the courthouse door?
What are the white shapes on the ground to the left of the water tower? Geese, perhaps?
