Re: Montgomery Advertiser – Crater commission seeks funding for visitor center

They may not still be there, but for many years there were signs on the highway just outside of Holtville, AL (which is also known locally as “Slapout, AL” ….but that’s another story for another day perhaps) which proclaimed that this was where the stars fell on Alabama. The impact crater, where something DID fall, is several miles southeast of Holtville, just on the outskirts of Wetumpka. The crater is impressive. It is almost within “spittin’ distance” of my home as the crow flies. For more information on the crater go to http://www.cityofwetumpka.com/Default.asp?ID=145&pg=Wetumpka+Impact+Crater

While all of my interest in the political world is a hobby [...]

My Time is Up

I write this blog with some mixed emotion. Over the last eight years I have served in the House of Representatives, and this Thursday will most likely be my last day in session as a House member. Of course, my term goes until November, and there could always be a special session at [...]

TRYIN’ TO CATCH UP

I’ve been in Venice on a little vacation and just returned last night.  I’ve been trying to catch up and see that there have been few dramatic events in the last 10 days.  I thought the www.fivethirtyeight.com piece was especially good, though the comments reflected the anti-Alabama knee-jerk reactions of those who live outside the [...]
