Huntsville attorney Taze Shepard will announce his candidacy for the 5th Congressional District seat tomorrow.
The body of the release reads, in its entirety,
Taze Shepard is 56 and a partner in the Huntsville law firm of Sparkman, Shepard and Morris. He is married to Pamela Lang Shepard, a Huntsville Realtor who was born in Lawrence County. They are parents of five children.
Mitchell Howie is also running for the Democratic nomination, and Steve Raby appears to be making ready for the race. Republicans Mo Brooks and Les Phillip also are challenging Dem-turned-GOPer incumbent Parker Griffith. Wayne Parker, the 2008 GOP nominee for the seat, may yet join the race.

FWIW, the firm’s website is terrible.
I know Taze. He is a good man and will be a strong contender in North Alabama. Many folks remember all that his grandfather, John Sparkman, did for this State and that region.
I’m surprised the Democrats were able to find someone to run, much less two people. Even Griffith knew a Democrat has no chance of winning. My guess is Mo Brooks will be our next congressman.
Sorry Liz but Mo’s personality will kill him in his bid I think. He’ll do good to win the primary and if anyone with any tact runs for the Dems, they’ll beat him. He alienates too many people. He’s too brash. He’s a good guy to send to Montgomery but not the right guy for DC.
I doubt Shepard will be the last Democrat to get in this race. It looks like the Democrats may likely end up fielding stronger candidates than the Republicans.
LIA reported that the Driscoll people sent the release. Is he representing both Les Phillip AND Taze Shepard?
Terry
I am handling only Taze Shepard for Congress.
Steve Raby has the best chances of winning the Democratic nomination.
By looking at Les Phillip’s FEC reports it looks as if there are several payments to DRG. This is very strange.
DRG was hired by Les Phillip for PR from August to October. That relationship has ended.
