Pointers to campaign finance data added to Big List

The plan is also to add these to the Alabama Senate and House lists also.

You will notice some of the links don’t work mainly because those reports weren’t available this AM.  This will be fixed as time, coffee supply, and cat and dog permit.

2/2/10 – Finished adding links to Alabama Senate list, still to do Alabama House, cat, dog, and distractions both big and little permitting have permitted.  A few reports are missing, however, imagine envelopes are still being opened at the Secretary of States office and some are stuck in the mail.   Pleas let us know if anything needs fixing on the lists.

edit: fix a few errors, so post makes less sense

Math — or maybe it’s Meth — you can keep on spinnin’ but nobody is it. By my quick research, Byrne has set a record for money raised by a non-incumbent at this point in the cycle. Better than Riley ‘02, Siegelman ‘98, and Hubbert ‘94 or ‘90. No doubt James has the family money in place to spend, but Byrne has clearly started fast out of the gate.

  • anonymous

That should read “you can keep on spinnin’ but nobody is buying it.”

  • Na

U can’t compare all the back to 1990. Inflation etc also I can’t wait until we in the GOP take over.

  • anonymous

No GOP governor candidate who was anything other than first in “cash on hand” after the first report has won the primary since at least 1994. That is a cold hard fact. Byrne can’t spin out of that. He’s got some problems.

  • anonymous

Actually, since the passage of the Fair Campaign Practices Act NO candidate has EVER WON THE PRIMARY AFTER TRAILING IN CASH ON JANUARY 31.

    FtPayne -
You are exactly on point! Something very fishy going on there!! A man who’s lived off the taxpayers all his adult life, and lived the lifestyle Ronnie Sparks has lived, shouldn’t have accumulated a half million dollars to kick into his campaign!! Something very wrong here!!!

  • 2010

I agree about sparks. sounds very odd. maybe he won all that money at victory land with langford.

  • Common Sense

Is James going to run the state the same way he runs his campaign… Debt, Debt, Debt… It is sad that he is using his last name and the money he made robbing Baldwin Country dry in order to try and buy this election.

  • anonymous

If James spends a million of his own money every year on campaigns he’ll go broke . . .in about 50 years. That’s an adavantage for him, no question. He has a bigger personal fortune than anyone else in the race. Money shouts. And it’s a game-changer when your opponent isn’t a popular incumbent governor who can raise enough to offset that personal fortune. James is in good shape. Byrne’s position is OK but not nearly so strong as Riley would be. Bentley is hanging in there but his peronal money won’t allow him to stay up on TV and radio with Byrne and James.

  • 2010

Money matters but when you are not a good candidate – all the money in the world will not win you the election.

  • Baudrillard

Danny, don’t see the House FCPA links. Am I missing something?

  • anonymous

2010 you are right about that, and when your candidate is poor in addition to having less money than his opponent it’s a deadly combination for Byrne.

  • waltm

Haven’t finished the House links. things a bit busy.

  • 2010

byrne is anything but a poor candidate. byrne and bentley are the best two on the GOP side. head and shoulders above the rest. sorry – but tim james in no way measures up. the more he campaigns the more people know it. he can loan himself all he wants – it is in vain.

  • No more RINOs

The campaign has barely begun. Judge Roy Moore WILL end up with the most money because he’s the only REAL Republican in the race.

His inkind contributions are because people believe in him so much they work for free. Bradley the RINO and Tim son of Fob and Crazy lady Kay and the rest of the AEA and BCA candidates have to pay their staffs.

When the truth on this vid comes out, people will know that Byrne is a RINO and will start donating to Judge Roy Moore —->

Bentley is doing a great job. Byrne? He’s got the entire party machinery and every hanger-on behind him – Twinkle, Mike Hubbard, Susan Fillipelli, Bill Goolsby – and he can’t even emerge with the most cash on hand. In the immortal words of the county singer Julie Roberts (NOT the actress Julia) “It’s bangin’ and clangin’ and it can’t be good.”

Call james anything you want, but you also have to call him the Leader in Cash on Hand – just like Fob in ‘98, Riley in 2002, Riley in 2006 – all of them winners. Every year since the Fair Campaign Practices Act has required this report, the leader has won. That’s a nice indicator for James.

  • Baudrillard

Big surprise here is Susan Pace Hammill raising over 110k for Bentley’s seat. All small donations, it seems.

  • Dirt McGurt

Tim James has spent more in the last year than he has raised. LOL at Tim James. “A Better World” didn’t get him 3-4% when all was said and done.

  • Barbour County Barber

I looked through these and it looks like my Representative Billy Beasley has raised more money than all of the other challengers, and all of the Republicans in the senate!!!

  • 2010

Beasley has that seat wrapped up.

  • Conserrrrrrrrrrrvo Mannnnnnnnnnn

    Question for Bobly Byrne supporters-

how much money was raised and spent to pass Amendment 1? What were the results again? By the way has the Avon lady been harrassing Byrne’s family at home lately? Just wondering if I missed the press conference calling for a restraining order on her.

Not taxed enough already? Vote Byrne.

    BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

They have released a news photo of the EXACT MOMENT the subpoena was served on Bradley by those mean intimidating process servers:

Some of these House candidates have filed paperwork with the SOS, but have not filed waivers or annual reports (Lonnergan H30, Bearden HD36, Rodney Walker HD37,Oldroyd HD49, Givan HD60, Tingle 62, Jeremy Walker HD73, Forte and Newton HD80). If they have filed with the SOS, they have surpassed the threshhold limit, so why no report or waiver? What is the recourse for violation of FCPA?

  • Anonymous

A candidate who surpassed the threshold amount from January 1 through January 11 would not be required to file until the 45 day report in April.

  • waltm

Mgm Insider, if you’re using the links I’ve posted, remember incompetence is my part is just as likely. I plan on revisiting the lists and updating them friday. By then all the mail should be opened, scanned and posted.

On Pee-Wee Byrne’s website they are asking for donations to “keep Bradley on TV.” Hell after that acting performance I’ll pay to keep him OFF TV. Bradley’s so wooden I’ll bet there is a little yellow tag on the bottom of his foot; no wonder Jimmy Rane is the campaign chair. When Bradley loses Rane will pressure treat him and sell him to unsuspecting customers . . .

  • Mgm Insider

Walt, these links say “No Reports Available.” Looks like Anon. knows something about what’s going on here. If a candidate files after Dec. 31, he doesn’t have to declare finances until the 45 day report.

  • waltm

He probably does. When I listen to Devo performing “Blockhead”, (which just came up in the playlist) I think its about me …
