Interesting that our friend CC Dollar calls law enforcement officers “jack booted thugs” in a post on the Dothan Eagle website. My, my.

  • Anonymous

And Country Crossing’s attorney called State Troopers “burglars” according to a report on NBC 13. Nice respect for the law, guys.

“Jack booted thugs”…”burglars…” Why isn’t Troy King, that great defender of law enforcement officers, standing up and calling these guys out for attacking our police officers?

  • CC Dollar

yes sir/mame the ones who went into white hall were jack booted thugs….i have been at CC all night and i am appalled at the waste of my taxpayer money with this warrantless operation….and btw, the state troopers were offered breakfast, coffee, and use of the bathrooms at possum holler bed and breakfast…we are well are of the majority of the state troopers thoughts on this whole matter and hold no hostility against any of them…..so now boys and girls, lets all sit back and see who gets the last laugh..i lay my bet on Bingo…

  • TransferredToAlabama

This is a big PUBLICITY EXTRAVAGANZA for the Governor to show the religious zealots and the Indian Campaign Contributors that he is attempting to do what they bought and paid for. Why in the world would they send all of these STATE PAID EMPLOYEES ON OVERTIME without a Search Warrant? Were they afraid that they would be found out and STOPPED – AGAIN? The Governor was embarrassed the last time he tried to pull this stunt and now he is behaving like a playground bully to save face. So we pay to save his pride?

Did we not just have a DEBATE/BILL to Furlough/Lay-off State employees due to empty coffers? Do I hear class action suits in our futures? Misuse of power in Jurisprudence – Will this be another Alabama Governor with his own Orange Jumpsuit? Alabama Politics is worse than a cheap low class soap opera- with the exception that in the end there will be nothing cheap about it – The Governor will leave the table and the taxpayers will be left with the bill!! This is ridicules!!

How much is this hoopla costing the people of Alabama? How much will the inevitable Law Suits cost the taxpayers of Alabama; will Riley’s Son and Son-in-Law handle it Pro Bono to earn back some of the millions of dollars they have already been assigned? Heck no these boys will be racking up billable hours for years at $500 – $1000 / hr while Riley moves on as a Consultant in Mississippi.

  • CC Dollar

we are hearing search warrants will be issued within the next two hours…i will be there to watch them break the glass, go inside and attempt to destroy our wonderful economic developement….this is a sad and embarrassing day for our area and our state….

  • search warrants

CC — if search warrants are issued, why would the police break the glass? Aren’t the CC attorney’s still there? I’m sure they’ll comply with a search warrant and open the doors, right?

  • TransferredToAlabama

    CC Dollar -

Please know that there are many people in other parts of this state; that are very concerned and supportive of your area and the economic development disaster this impending vendetta brings to your community.

Your school systems are in absolute need of additional funds and renovations – I understand from the Education Community that; Some of the charitable contributions coming from this establishment were to be donated to supplement these issues and programs. Now these STUDENTS/TEACHERS/PARENTS will also be deprived.

  • CC Dollar

thanks for the support, transferred and the handfull of others here at docs..

and no, i’ve been assured the doors will remain chained and padlocked…they will have to go in the way they see fit…all their actions inside will be on camera for the world to see…i would urge them not to pull another white hall..

  • anonymous

John Tyson for attorney general!!!!! He will get em !!!!

  • Susan Fillippeli

CC-If you are so sure that your machines are legal, why not welcome the troopers and invite them to take one of each type machine to investigate. If they are legal, you have nothing to worry about and this will be over once and for all.

  • Anonymous

Good point, Susan. You’ll get no coherent response from CC, though.

  • anonymous

CC, are the troopers being offered ribs and free tickets to Bama Jam, too?

  • Taxpayer

Has the Governor completely lost his mind? The State AG is telling him to step down, this is going to blow up in his face, and he will not listen. This Egomaniac is becoming dangerous, he will not be happy until some gets hurt and he can scream “Phenix City”, Whats next the Fire hoses from Selma? This is going to bankrupt the state in Due Process. Where are the FEDS? We need protection, NOW!!

  • anonymous

Why isn’t Gilley with his beloved “entertainment extravaganza?”(bingo hall) He’s posted on Wiregrasslive calling a dissenter an idiot. I’d think he’d be going down with his ship instead of posting on blogs and websites. Interesting posts here…mmm…

  • anonymous

Where’s Jim Parkman today in this fiasco? Im memory serves me correctly, he said on tv after Tues.’s hearing that he would stand in the doorway of CC and get arrested himself. He told the task force to, “Strap it on.” I’ll bet everyone regrets that statement. Looks like they’re strapping it on alright.

  • Taxpayer

On the Montgomery News video footage –

I believe Mr Parkman was the gentleman who was politely smiling and waving good bye as the State Troopers drove off onto 231 AFTER being ordered to vacate Private Property as they had NO RIGHT TO TRESSPASS without a SEARCH WARRANT or EXECUTIVE WRIT to enter. You would assume someone would have thought of this before they sent approx 75 officers all over Houston Co. for 20 hours OR was it they could not find a judge to sign off on their illegal actions.
The Officers also would not say who was the commander, What they were doing there, Who ordered them there or Why they were there? As the one state trooper admitted they saw no crime being committed, so they were told to leave the property as they had no business on the premises.

All of this for NOTHING – Probably close to $500,000.00 of Taxpayers dollars wasted in less than 24 hours. AGAIN, due to Gov Riley

  • anonymous

How could the troopers see a crime being committed when you shut the doors, CHAINED them, and cut the power off to the facility? If there was no crime being committed, why not leave your doors open? “Strap it on” Parkman. You’re old news in these parts.

  • Taxpayer

If the (RILEY/TYLER)Powers that be would have sent the Troopers with the Proper Legal Documentation, they could have entered NO MATTER WHAT. But because they DID NOT have PROOF of illegal activity due to Houston Co Charitable Bingo Amendment, they could not get a judge to sign off on the warrant. Any 1st year Law Student knows this is how it works and so does Riley/Tyler.

That is why the whole episode was a BIG WASTE OF TAXPAYERS MONEY in a state with a BUSTED BANK ACCOUNT

Regardless of Political Stripes Vote Tomorrow

As an elected official, I am tuned into voting habits and practices. Call me a political junkie, but I am fascinated by the whole electoral process—what age group votes most often, what issues motivate them and what media outlet is the most effective. While all of my interest in the political world is a hobby [...]

My Time is Up

I write this blog with some mixed emotion. Over the last eight years I have served in the House of Representatives, and this Thursday will most likely be my last day in session as a House member. Of course, my term goes until November, and there could always be a special session at [...]

TRYIN’ TO CATCH UP

I’ve been in Venice on a little vacation and just returned last night.  I’ve been trying to catch up and see that there have been few dramatic events in the last 10 days.  I thought the www.fivethirtyeight.com piece was especially good, though the comments reflected the anti-Alabama knee-jerk reactions of those who live outside the [...]
