The Republican field narrows in the State Treasurer race

Both Ronald Stokes (in an email to the Parlor) and Terry Dunn have dropped out of the race.  Each have plans to seek future state wide office.

This leaves George Wallace, Jr, unopposed in the Republican primary and facing either Charley Grimsley or Jeremy Sherer, depending on the results of the Democratic Primary.

BTW, does Wallace have a web site, searches don’t lead to one.

Edit: fixed name, thanks anon – Cerebral synapses must still be frozen

Dunn should run for PSC against Jan Cook!

We already have good options for PSC against Jan Cook. If there’s any year to beat her, it’s 2010. I don’t think Dunn has the fire-in-the-belly needed to win a statewide race.

Terry Dunn…And is Young Boozer still considering?

The GOP has strong candidates for the PSC already. What they need is a candidate who as more appeal and isn’t as crazy as Hank Erwin running for Lt. Gov.

Well I like Susan Parker but Cook need to go.

  • 2010

I agree that Cook has been there way, way too long. 2010 is time for her to go.

Not a bad idea to leave George Jr un opposed. They saw the writing on the wall. Too bad Kay Ivey, Roy Moore and Bill Johnson are not as clear minded in the Govs race. Kay should run for Lt Gov! (and Bentely should wind up in a cabinet position at some point but I like him staying in the race).
But no way Bill Johnson and Roy Moore will drop out – they are running more for themselves and to try and be relevant than anything else. Too bad Johnson lost that battle long ago.

  • Young Boozer has one of the greatest political names of all time. It ranks right up there with former Nashville Mayor and Congressman Bill BONER(D) and former Michigan State Rep Dick Head(D). Can’t you just imagine how great the debates would be though if Boozer ran against Erwin in the primary? Erwin would probably start out claiming satan brought forth this “Young Boozer” fellow and it would only get better from there.

I am glad that George Wallace,Jr. is unopposed in the Republican primary.

    yeah 2010…
Mr. Johnson should be more like the head of Bingo Bob’s Gambing task force who just resigned because he won money gambling in Mississippi! I guess they figure their boss is getting millions from the mississippi casinos they might as well also…
    But keep trying brian…

Regardless of Political Stripes Vote Tomorrow

As an elected official, I am tuned into voting habits and practices. Call me a political junkie, but I am fascinated by the whole electoral process—what age group votes most often, what issues motivate them and what media outlet is the most effective. While all of my interest in the political world is a hobby [...]

My Time is Up

I write this blog with some mixed emotion. Over the last eight years I have served in the House of Representatives, and this Thursday will most likely be my last day in session as a House member. Of course, my term goes until November, and there could always be a special session at [...]

TRYIN’ TO CATCH UP

I’ve been in Venice on a little vacation and just returned last night.  I’ve been trying to catch up and see that there have been few dramatic events in the last 10 days.  I thought the www.fivethirtyeight.com piece was especially good, though the comments reflected the anti-Alabama knee-jerk reactions of those who live outside the [...]
