Quentin Riggins has left the Business Council of Alabama where he served as its Senior Vice President for Governmental Affairs to open his own independent outfit. He will do government affairs lobbying on a contract basis for BCA and others.
Riggins’ successor at BCA has not been announced, but the Parlor has learned that it will be Anita Archie who has been the Director of Government Relations for the Alabama Community College System. Archie also serves as the chair for the Alabama Environmental Management Commission that will choose the next Director for the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM).
FWIW, her chairmanship of AEMC along with her move to BCA lead me to recall the line heard here regarding Trey Glenn’s departure from ADEM, “You don’t lose your job at ADEM for disappointing the environmental community. Business interests call the shots there.”

This is a good move on part of BCA. Anita is a great person, well-respected not only in government circles but in the community as well.
BCA is falling apart…
Anita last worked for Bradley Byrne and now is working for BCA. Marty Sullivan used to work for BCA and now works for the Byrne Campaign. Has BCA all but endorsed Byrne? Connect the dots.
BCA likely won’t endorse, because there are segments within it that are split between a number of different candidates.
Quentin is a great person and will do well.
BCA picks the next ADEM director? what else is new.
