PSC Commissioner Susan Parker says today she is focussing on her re-election to the Public Service Commission and will pass on AL-05. See her statement [.doc] in the Press Releases section of the Political Parlor. Ron Sparks‘ statement on the matter is also here [.doc].
We hear Deborah Paseur is unlikely to run. Who’s in? Steve Raby? One Democrat indicates to the Parlor his skepticism that Raby will run with the rhetorical question, “Hasn’t Raby been rumored to run for every race since 1996?” Bud Cramer? Many folks have heard some third- or fourth-hand version of the rumor that the former Congressman might try to reclaim his seat, but no one seems to know where it came from or is willing to give it much credence. State Rep. Randy Hinshaw? As likely as anyone I know.
We’ll keep up with it as we can on the 2010 Big List.

It doesn’t matter who runs, the race will be decided in the “JUNE” (codeword) election of the Republican candidates. Griffith will be primarried this time, and the district will finally send a conservative to DC. Rumors were swirling a week ago that three-time loser Wayne (I wish my last name were not Parker) might get in, but I hope he will realize that most, even key supporters and friends, don’t want him to.
The race will be interesting, and is primed for a “Paul Sanford” type upset. Most people are saying it will go to turncoat Griffith, but it will not be easy.
The further down the road this goes, the more I hear the name of Les Phillip. Probably time for people to start taking this candidate seriously. He will have to work to place second, but he will, and then in the run-off, the conservative vote will propel him forward, and he will defeat the once DCCC annointed one, but now the DCCC hated one.
A.J.
Sanford should look at this rave b/c he probably get beat by Enfinger in the senate seat.
I predict a runoff and whoever makes the runoff with Griffith will win.
And forget about a Democrat Rep. or Senator giving up his or her seat into to lose this race.
The Democrats will not find a serious candidate.
Is this same Enfinger who left Politics with a trail of booze, sex, adultery and depositions?
Please allow me to meddle in District Five. As a conservative, I would love to see a solid, pro-life, supporter of limited government like Mo Brooks in this seat.
Mo or Les Phillips (another fine man) would serve well in Congress. But the primary vote will center around Madison and Limestone County and the moderate GOPers will go with Griffith. With vast money behind him, Griffith will be hard to beat in the primary.
