Parker Griffin got slammed by Kay Ivey today. Check out story on al.com. Finally somebody in the republican party had the nerve to call the snake a snake.

Doesn’t look like a good Christmas for Parker or Joey this year. I would say that yesterday’s announcement didn’t go as well as planned for the turncoat Congressman.

I have had my issues with Ivey, but she at least has the guts to stand up and say what most people on the ground are thinking. Byrne’s comments yesterday were milquetoast (at best)— he better get a backbone or his fight against Roy Moore will be a short one (Just ask Harold See how easy it is to fall into that trap with Moore).

Kay doesn’t need to lecture anyone on switching parties.

  • Loyal Independent

Anonymous, you may be right about Ivey switching parties two decades ago. But that may be why Byrne made the comments he did yesterday — he fully understands the value of switching parties. Maybe he can be Parker’s tutor for understanding how to change parties and not really change any of your positions.

And, additionally, let’s see what Parker does with Sharon Wheeler, since Politico confirmed today she – as chief of staff – is one of the only remaining staff members in DC after the mass resignations. All of Montgomery knows her close relationship with the Democratic powers that be (especially Lowell Barron). 2:1 odds she is out the door by the first of the year, and back on the state senate payroll before sessions starts.

  • Brian Johnson

Well, there goes the neighborhood. If Tim James is really going to pick up Ceci, then game over. Davis can’t and won’t be governor without Joey Ceci.

BJ – i seriously doubt that some guy from huntsville that most people in huntsville have never heard of will have that much impact on the Gov’s race. Ceci is the consummate insider

Conservative Christians of Alabama held a December online poll for the Governor’s race.

Moore was in first place, Johnson was in second place, James was a weak third and Byrne was a very weak fourth.

So another indication Moore is winning the fight on the right. Johnson’s attacks on Riley is winning good reviews among some. Byrne is not impressing people who actually hear him speak.

Byrne got to hope his handlers can cut some good ads with the money he is raising.

TV is the only way he wins. Grassroots and on the stump are never going to work out for him.

Byrne does not appear to have a good ability to connect with the average Joe and especially not an angry group of Joes.

Tim James should stick with GOP consultants.

  • Reactionary

princeliberty – I don’t see Moore getting into a runoff. IMO the race is between James and Byrne, with James as the front-runner.

BTW I’ve been impressed by hearing Byrne’s actual speaking, but then I’m not angry nor am I Joe.

  • loyal independent

How many consultants does Tim need in his shipwrecked campaign? Or more precisely, how many consultants will Fred Davis allow in to share the media budget?

  • princeliberty

James is in fourth place in the polling and he is the frontrunner?!

    Wow!

  • Baudrillard

PrinceLib, when did on-line polls becomes a reliable bellweather of public sentiment?

  • princeliberty

Online polls don’t mean much. I only described it as indication. The reason it has some meaning it that it came from a conservative Christian group and thus was a small test of what is happening on the right.

But my comment about James being in fourth was based on what is happening in the polling on the governor’s race. The polling has not been publicly released. But it no great secret there have been a number of primary polls and they all show Moore was a double digit lead. Generally Ivey is second, Byrne third and James fourth.

The James camp claims despite the polling, they are gaining tractioin with conservatives.

This poll goes against that claim, a claim which is really backed up by nothing.

princeliberty – if you think byrne does not connect with voters and that he and bentley do not clearly outshine other GOP candidates in forums/debates then you are not paying attention. i know you think moore is the be all and end all but be rational.

Legislative Dispatch

A Look from the Rearview Mirror

This Thursday will mark the last day of the legislative Session.  For some, it was a Session that seemed would never end.  For others, it was one that ended much too quickly.  It may be early, yet, to write an obit on this Session, but as we approach the finish line, some perspective may be in order.

Putting Students First

As you know, a very important piece of legislation will be presented for our consideration in the House tomorrow in Montgomery – Senate Bill 310 – the “Students First” tenure and fair dismissal reform bill. Like me, many House members have been inundated with phone calls and emails from opponents of this bill, and some have been [...]

Legislative Transparency

There are a lot of issues to debate before we begin the final days of this session. In fact, I am quite certain there will be some comments on this post debating many of them. Before we get into the last seven day of the session I wanted to bring up a topic that [...]
