Hank Sanders ‘Reserves the Right to Run’

Hank SandersState Sen. Hank Sanders states publicly this week what you already read in the Parlor: he “reserves the right to run.”

For the Alabama Senate. For the U.S. Congress. For the state line. It’s all in this week’s column, Senate Sketches, that he writes for his constituents.

I would prefer having Sanders in the Senate than any of the candidates that have either announced or are considering running for his seat.

I am just curious what he will do now that he no longer needs to “work into the night”

Hank has run into “inspection” problems with the new Bingo Hall in Greene County, might need to stay in office to change some Greene Co laws.

The Sanders for Congress possibility is real. Hank genuinely believes that Sewell, Hilliard, and Smoot are not ready for Congress and his dislike for James Perkins is real. He expects a Republican governor and believes that the Black Belt needs a high profile champion. If he runs, he outraises Sewell and he beats any of the Birmingham candidates in a runoff.

#6 – on some levels that makes sense – however I’m not sure Hank jumping into the race would scare anyone off. I don’t see Hank doing much in Jefferson County. Likewise I can’t see him outraising Sewell. Whether or not Hank believes that any of the others are ready or not – Hank would have a tough time
