Sparks is trying to run the Siegelman campaign over again. The problem, Davis is not Lenore Pate, and the black vote that Siegelman scooped up with the lottery is not about to choose Sparks over Davis, any more than they chose Hillary over one of their own. Second problem, this stuff is rehash. Plays right into Davis’ hands by making him the new ideas guy. By the way, dropping a major policy proposal on 4th of July weekend?

Sparks is trying desperately to get Stan Pate and Uncle Milt to be his cash cow. Only problem, they’re telling people they think they can live with Davis on gambling and that they think Sparks has no shot.

Sparks has updated his website to show his three planks. Free college/trade school/apprenticeships, low taxes, gambling. Would be interesting to see the spreadsheets and financial assumptions that support this.

“The announcement will include specific plans to guarantee advanced education for every child, reduce taxes, increase funding for Medicaid and education and create a disaster relief fund for agriculture.”

Three of those items will require more money. The fourth will, depending on where we lie on the Laffer curve, decrease revenue. Curious to see how his math works out.

Sparks has been elected statewide twice. He won 62 counties in 06 and got more votes than any Democrat. I’d be carefule about the “amateur hour” talk. I’ll guarantee you that Artur is not taking him for granted.
