Democrat Jeff Enfinger, former state Senate majority leader, former Republican, is reportedly making calls and considering challenging the newly elected Republican Paul Sanford for the Senate District 7 seat next year. You may remember that Enfinger considered running as a candidate for this week’s special election but eventually passed.
Enfinger was elected to the Senate in 1998 as a Republican, switched parties, and won re-election as a Democrat in 2002. He did not run for re-election in 2006. Democrat Parker Griffith won that open seat.

The blogs would have have field day with Enfinger. All you have to do is go back and pull the testimony from the court case a few years back involving Enfinger.
Enfinger would be tough to beat. Sanford would have his hands full.

Does Enfinger have a high school diploma?
For the record, all the comments about people who fell for the “joke” not being smart enough to vote ring a little hollow when they are cast in favor of a candidate who dropped out of high school.
Pretty much every republican in that district would come out to just vote against Enfinger after the stunts he pulled during his 8 years in the senate.
Does Paul Sanford have a high school diploma? Serious question. On another blog, someone mentioned that he did not without citing anything.
DanT: Get a clue. Enfinger sure seemed popular after his first term (won with 64%). Standing up to Bedford/Barron in his second term really must have angered local Republicans, according to your warped logic.
Dan T is correct. Republicans here still spit when they mention Enfinger’s name.

Right, JJ. Enfinger’s the one whose business partner’s husband caught them in a compromising position on the sofa in his office.
I assume this is the situation Charles Bishop was referring to when he lamented the fact that people couldn’t have sex in their own offices anymore.
Not to get snooty or anything but a degree from a culinary institute, no matter how esteemed it may be, is not the same as a high school diploma. And the Culinary Institute of America does not require a high school diploma. I don’t think high school dropouts should be barred from the State Senate or anything, but I think it’s quite a double standard if folks criticize Enfinger for that and don’t criticize Sanford. Obviously, both have found success despite their supposed academic shortcomings.
Sanford went to the Culinary Ins. of America from Auburn. Enfinger is a Vandy business grad.
Samford Dem, you sound “snooty.” Anyone who wants to win in elective politics in AL should not throw that stone. Remember who your voters are. If anyone wants to criticize Enfinger for that, they shouldn’t. Pill parties and adultery…not that’s a different story.
