What was supposed to be a very interesting story in this spot turned out to be a very ordinary story about Supreme Court Justice Champ Lyons being too old to run for re-election when his seat comes up for re-election in 2012.
Perhaps I’ll delete this non-story at some point, but I did want to attempt to clear up any confusion I may have inadvertently created.
Thanks to the readers in comments who set us straight. Carry on.

Justice Lyons is not up for reelection until 2012 at which time he will be too old to run again.
The seats that are up in 2010 are Patti Smith’s, Mike Bolin’s and Tom Parker’s.
Hmmm… I may have gotten my time zones mixed up.
I’ll rework the post.
Thanks!
Not to mention the fact that he will be age-barred from running again in 2012.
Or as mentioned by Any – oops
I think Lyons cannot run again if he wanted to because he’ll be 70.
Yep, thanks, JD, John, and Any. I was in the process of editing the post when you left your comment, JD.
Danny,
It is still an interesting 2010 story because the Patti Smith seat is open and who knows if Bolin and Parker will have any opposition
Any ideas on replacing SBC? Trial Lawyers are hard at work. Wondering who will be candidates for Supreme/Civil/Criminal Courts. Names have been thrown around since 06, noone has come forward with announcement.
