The places I have checked, only list Moore as a republican. I have not found his affiliation in early years as a county judge. However, nothing I have seen refers to him as having changed his political affiliation. It may be possible that when Alabama flipped to the republican party, some people did flip to retain their elected office.

I would like to know if Roy Moore really used to be a Democrat as posted in post 25? Do you have a link to back that up? I think we do need to be carefull to only tell the whole truth & not just our opion.

Actually, what is amazing is all you folks being so willing to slander.

As you should know by now, it has come out the letter was sent out by a Ms. Sanders on her own nothing to do with Young or Moore or some conspiracy.

You really should have more honor that to throw out the garbage that you all have dished out on this thread.

After reading the letter, as well as the comments, I feel compelled to reply. Has she read the history of why Maryland was founded, or Rhode Island? Or what happened to some of the religious “heretics” in those colonies? Is there a difference in then and what is happening now? Are the “unbelievers” to be run under? If this country is based on religious freedom, freedom to believe, or not, is our right. Are people of different faiths or beliefs to be treated differently? Are people of other beliefs going to be forced to attend her church (of course, the one and only true church)and believe her way? And, who will decide if your faith is “true?” That’s frightening to think about. Our country has fought many wars and conflicts so we all may enjoy freedom. Personal and religious freedom. Many have died.
Also, Christianity is a religious minority in the world. If Ms. Sanders is against all other religions, then do we really have equality, or is that just a term that she uses, but does not mean. Equality for who? Even the Muslim religion has roots that trace to Abraham and Sarah. Are they to be banished from this state? Or any state? What about people of the Jewish faith? You will probably say no, but is that what you actually mean? It seems that you refer to other beliefs as godless. And less than equal. As long as we ascribe to her, the backers of Moore, and Moore, beliefs and religion, we will be ok. Maybe we could have separate areas for those “other” people. You know, separate but equal. Until taught better, of course. A very learned minister once said told me there are many ways up the same mountain. Until we are able to be tolerant of other people, and beliefs, we will continue to have inequality, and hate. You say our education is poor, but every time something is said about giving more to education, it is turned down. All ready given too much, used poorly. The lowest in the nation. I am sure my own personal religious convictions will be questioned by this post. You would rather attack me as a person, use your intolerance to foment anger under the guise of being a better christian. I am reminded of the saying by Santayana, “Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Ya know, Judge Moore is always displaying a picture of himself in judge’s robes. Are court-martialed soldiers allowed to go around in military uniforms? Can defrocked ministers wear clerical collars?

Moore will have no problem raising money, if the Trial Lawyers feel he’s a big enough drag on the Republican Primary. They have been funding Trojan Horse candidates in the Republican Primary for the last several elections.

Also, the Republican Party is never metioned ion the solicitation letter. Not once. He’s no Republican.

Although I would not be shocked if his “campaign staff” (read: nut case Dean Young) doesn’t know that independent candidates cannot raise money before November. Moore was actively trying to obtain 37,000 signatures to run as an Independent until recently . . .

By taking money June 1st he HAS to run as a Republican or Democrat by law. Otherwise he would have to wait until November to raise money as THAT would be “12 months before an election in which he will be a candidate.”

Of course, he’s breaking the law anyway so why not break that one too?

#14, you could also mention that in October of 2004 – less than a month before the presidential election between George W. Bush and John Kerry – Moore appeared on Fox News and declare that he supported the candidacy (though he used the word “supported” while saying he could not “endorse” due to his position with a nonprofit foundation – curious semantics there)of the third-party fringe candidate of the Costitution Party – NOT George W. Bush, who was locked in a tight election with an ultraliberal Democrat.

Roy Moore is not a Republican. He’s a Roy Moore. He wants to use the party to advance himself – not the other way around.

The party should consider not allowing him to run as a Republican. he has given them ample reasons to do so.
