A member of the state Republican Executive Committee told me:
Kay will announce sometime in June.
Her exploratory committee continues to grow and she will release a second list of members of the committee next month.
She has signed up Stevens Reed Curcio & Potholm as communication consultants.
Targeted Creative Communications will advise the campaign on direct voter contact.
She is adding other staff and will have offices in Montgomery, Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile by year-end.
She has money in her account and is committed to running a positive and effective race on the issues.
She also has a 12 page, 8.5 x 11 inch, slick brochure that she is distributing. You may download a scan of it here. The text ends with these words, “I am prepared, willing and committed to serve as your governor.”

Given the bizarre nature of this candidacy which flies in the face of rational campaign thought, Kay will need a really good nickname. Here are a few suggestions:
“No Way Kay”
“D.O.A. kay”
“Krazy Kay”
“Insane Ivey”
“The PACT Rat”
“Old Mother Bare Cubbard”
Who was that guy who used to post on here way before the PACT mess that Kay was crazy? Back then Kay seemed sane, but that dude was on to something. I just do not see how this campaign can possibly work.
By the way, Danny, I would not be so sure she has money in her account. Every year right before New Year’s a loan for $1,000,000 goes into her campaign account BUT it is (if you look at the NEXT annual report) pulled out on January 2 – as soon as the banks open. She is creating the illusion that she has $1,000,000 in her accounts but right now (April 23) that money is NOT there and won’t be there before the next annual report (when once again it will be loaned IN in late December and pulled back OUT on January 2). It’s a shell game – the money isn’t really there. It’s all a scam.
Here is the shell game – hit the link to see the money go IN on December 31, 2007:
http://arc-sos.state.al.us/PEL/SOSELPDF.003/E0063243.PDF
OK – now hit THIS link to see it pulled IMMEDIATELY back out on January 2, 2008 – so interest lost is small and the ACCOUNT BALANCE can be reported as $1,000,000 – even though the balance was only that amount for 72 HOURS:
http://arc-sos.state.al.us/PEL/SOSELPDF.003/E0104220.PDF
You will note on this second link ANOTHER LOAN for $1,000,000 AGAIN on December 31 . .and the pattern repeats.
To put into context the shell game detailed above:
On December 31, 2007, Kay Ivey reports a $1,000,000 loan to her campaign and on her annual report for 2008 (filed on January 31, 2008) reports a balance of over $1,000,000 – which is NOT TRUE as she immediately repaid the $1,000,00 on January 2, 2008 – but did NOT report the repayment until January 31, 2009 (on another annual report). Using campaign law loopholes, she gives the APPEARANCE of having $1,000,000 in her account when in FACT her balance on January 31, 2008 was a few thousand dollars.
She did the same thing this year – a $1,000,000 loan on December 31, 2008 with a repayment (I’ll bet you anything made on January 2, 2009) that won’t show up until 2010.
With misleading bookkeeping in her campaign like that, do you have any doubts that the PACT program wouldn’t deliberately mislead as well?
And this tells you?
She’s got at least a million and she doesn’t want to lose interest on it, or leave it out where Sweinhart could spend it.
If she’s releasing her second list of committee members soon, where can I find her first list, and more importantly, who’s on it?
now that don’t look good…any idea who that individual source of the loan is, viability?
Her committee list will just further prove that endorsements don’t matter.
Shelby, Sessions, Riley, the entire Congressional delegations and Saban could endorse it would not matter. (Of course if Saban wins a national championship next year – he might help a little!)
I heard even Kay tried to hire Mallory, but he turned her down. That guy’s not going to sign on with some loser!
This is copied from the website “Swing Stae Project.” It is pretty accurate about the national perception and in-state perception of Kay’s chances:
“• AL-Gov: Republican treasurer Kay Ivey will be running for governor after all, according to party insiders. The perception was that her role in Alabama’s floundering prepaid tuition plan may have wounded her too much to run for governor, but she’s still going for it.”
Kay needs a consultant who will tell her the truth, or at least someone around her who will. They are doing her a disservice.
Some people just see things the way they want to see them.
Isn’t it Mowrey? Poor guy – confusing name.
