Alabama is hosting 16 tea parties (named in homage to the Boston Tea Party) today to “protest against out of control government spending,” according to the Tax Day Tea Party website. (Better late than never. For example, the Cato Institute noted even back in 2003 the Bush administration’s “exploding deficit” and said the Bush administration “has consistently sacrificed sound policy to the god of political expediency.”)
In attendance in Montgomery at the noon event today will be GOP gubernatorial candidate Tim James, state Sen. Harri Anne Smith, state Rep. Greg Canfield, state Rep. Barry Mask, state Sen. Scott Beason, state Rep. Robert Bentley, and state Rep. Cam Ward, among others. State Sen. Hank Erwin and others will be in Trussville this morning.
The Flashpointblog gang will be at the one in Huntsville this afternoon; Brian notes (ahem…) special accommodations for those who come bearing other agenda items.
Find here the times and places for the nearest one to you.
If you have pictures or reports from any of the events, I’d be glad to hear from you.

#49 Nicely put. I can’t understand the sour grapes from the liberal folk and I can only guess it’s jealousy. The tea parties are America at its best.
If politicians see us and hear us, they’d better vote for less tax increases, bailouts, and pork projects and start using our money wisely.
The alternative is complacency and doing nothing. What positive change has ever come from that?
#48 it is heavily suggested in Montgomery that BCA has already signed on with Byrne. So that money won’t be there for Luther to run FOR GOV. However, if he does what he has repeatedly said he will do and run against Troy, he will get BCA backing.
I think the money is why he won’t go for Gov. That and the fact that Troy is an easy sitting duck, while BB is at least (probably more) popular with the same groups Luther appeals to.
If you go by percentages, Luther would be even money (at worst) against TK in a GOP primary. In a Gov primary, he would be at best about 3-1 against for the nomination (BB would have to be favored and there will be at least 2 other GOP possibilities).
#50, not like she would actually be there to answer the phone…
#54…if not i promise you she’d call you back if you’d leave a number…i don’t know of any of them that sit in their office all the time fielding calls….i do know the good ones like Senator Smith do return all calls when its requested…wish i could say that for all of them…you hear that, mr. holley??
