Nothing illustrates the rift between Gov. Bob Riley and his Attorney General Troy King better than the raid on gambling machines in White Hall yesterday directed not by the AG’s office but by the Governor’s Task Force on Illegal Gambling. For that matter, the creation of the task force itself without King was a prime example of their wide divide.

Time for king to step up to the plate…i hope he’s being pressed for a comment…it would be interesting to hear from him about now..
I don’t know, CC. Apparently anything he says can and will be used against him in a court of law.
riley had it all planned out eh? thats some sho nuff slick manuvering..
have a good weekend…we’ve got a major economic development to build and a heck of a concert tomorrow…
come see us!!
Riley likes playing the role of a big cop. Looks like he is ready to abuse his power for the good of Mississippi. It is ironic Riley liked playing the role of the cowboy when he played cowboys and indians as a child. I guess he feels guilty for all the times he shot the indians. Riley is wearing a full head dress now to repent.
I wonder if Troy’s Bullet proof vest will stand up to a knife in the back or a hatchet to the head. Me think um Riley out for scalp……………. Kowabunga!!!
If Riley had raided one of Milton McGregor’s establishments, I might think that he was serious about this. To raid “Whitehall” is a weak and cowardly way to gain some attention.
It appears that Riley and his task force are not serious about shutting down the machines, only grandstanding.
Troy King,as AG, has the legal authority to take over any case in Alabama that involve the state or any of its subdivisions. If he were to do that, Gov. BOOB an his stooge David Barber would look kind of dumb.
Not casting stones just fishing for opinions; if the Gov (and his task force) really believes that these “Bingo Machines” are illegal forms of gambling why wouldnt they seize all of them, at every location, instead of picking one location as a “test case”. It seems to me, that if he/they believe its illegal they should shut them all down. Just my .02 cents worth.
Any thoughts?
Good for Giv. Riley. I hope this is the first of many operations that are shut down to include CC.
to #6. I had the same thought. Why are they going after the chicken feed in Lowndes? If they are looking for a test case, why not go after the big enchilada and sink their teeth in Uncle Milty’s hide? McGregor is sitting right off the interstate, as pretty as you please with an operation 50 times the size of the rinky dink roadside stand in White Hall. McGregor is not going to be impressed with any ruling that comes out on White Hall. He will continue to run his operation until the Supreme Court says that it is illegal. According to WSFA, every county with a constitutional amendment is different, so this argument that they are looking for a test case is bogus. They should shut down Victoryland if they are serious.
I agree that if Riley is serious – go after mcgregor. maybe that is next ? who knows…
But the idea that troy king is not partial and in fact biased on these issues – specifically with his buddy Gilley….is a joke. So long Troy….happy retirement come 2010.
watch riley file a civil lawsuit against every bingo operator in the state or something crazy like that next…stay tuned..
that is what riley should do CC dollar…if he really feels that conviction then let’s not play favorites, huh? likewise, “sweet home alabama” should not play favorites either. fine with me to vote – but we should be voting on allowing it in every county in alabama – not just certain ones. please correct me if i am wrong and the measure actually applies equally to all counties in this state instead of naming just a select few.
