I gather, at least anecdotally, that the race to replace Bobby Bright as mayor of our capitol city is not engaging many folks.
The main question appears to be whether frontrunner Todd Strange can possibly get enough votes today in a 6 person field to avoid a runoff.

Congrats to Todd Strange – Montgomery’s Next Mayor! With the mess Bobby Bright left behind, we need someone like Todd to clean things up.
I agree – thank goodness for Todd Strange. You see what happens when there is no Obama on the ballot or an AEA push for votes……. we get the right people elected in the City of Mgm.
You mean bobby bright’s annointed candidate, briddel, didn’t win? Wow, thought bobby was untouchable, oh well, guess all that money that bobby gave to briddel’s campaign went to stimulate the economy so thanks, bobby…good for strange.
A few random notes on this race:…there was no strong black candidate, since Briddell was not well known and stronger black candidates like Quinton Ross passed on the race. That kept black turnout low and allowed Strange to win by racking up over 80% of the white vote.
The other winner here is Strange’s campaign mnanger, David Mowery. He now has this win, Bright’s congressional campaign and John Tyson’s near miss in the AG’s race. Folsom and Davis have been courting him but apprently neither is willing to give him the campaign manager’s slot. His stock just went up again.
^^This message brought to you by David Mowry^^
Dave Mowery & Patrick Cagle did an outstanding job on the Strange campaign. Strange had a lot of $ but it would have been useless without Mowery & Cagle.
Mowery is also being courted by some high profiles in the GOP now, with a win in a tight race for a Dem in his pocket and a win in a tight race for a Repub. He is on the map now, and righfully so.
The only question is whether he will parlay that interest from the GOP into a viable position from a strong Dem candidate. Needless to say, he has plenty of options.
