Moore on the Way?

Roy MooreWorld Net Daily columnist (and former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court) Roy Moore leads potential gubernatorial candidates in a poll conducted by ccAdvertising. The poll “shows Moore is far ahead of most of the likely competition.” According to the poll, in head to head matchups Moore leads Kay Ivey 50% to 14%, Tim James 52-16, and Artur Davis 52-27.

ccAdvertising is a group known for working with right wing causes and candidates such as presidential contenders Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. Romney later complained that ccAdvertising, working for Common Sense Issues, was violating the law with its phone calls on behalf of Huckabee during the presidential campaign. ccAdvertising has been on the losing end of two federal court decisions and was once fined $20,000 for violations in North Dakota.

Harold Swift of Common Sense Ohio was once asked if critics thought that the polling done for them by ccAdvertising was deceptive and replied, “I grant that they can reach that conclusion.”

One Montgomery Republican told the Parlor that while there are those trying to drum up support on behalf of Moore’s run for governor in 2010 (Dean Young, for example), they are not finding the support for the Ten Commandments Judge that they did before. Some big Moore supporters from the past are uninterested, and some are supporting GOP candidate Tim James. This particular GOP’er says that big Moore supporters from the past are “not jumping out there” at the opportunity to support Moore’s candidacy again, and can’t help but wonder if Moore is trying to raise his profile in the political arena because his speaking engagements are drying up.

Is that why he filed an amicus brief on behalf of the Etowah Baptist Association in its case before the Alabama Supreme Court? Once a rock star in conservative religious circles, Moore’s stock has fallen to the point that the Parlor hears that the amicus brief was not entirely welcome. (The question posed to me: “Would you want someone removed from the Supreme Court with you when you take your case to the Supreme Court?”)

But still, he leads the field in one poll by ccAdvertising.

Moore v. Barkley in a governor’s race sure would be interesting.

  • Add in “the Don” jdt and you would have the most entertaining governors race in modern times. Can you imagine the debates? Moore would preach about how we need to send Juan and his sweetie pie Juanita back to Mexico,Barkley could talk about going to strip clubs and the Don would come in late claiming that he wouldve been there sooner if that horrible and evil Karl Rove hadnt tried to run him off the road in Blount County.

Moore needs cash. He’s broke. It is just that simple. He has been told – repeatedly and by people who know him well – that he cannot win the Governor’s race in 2010. He plows ahead anyway.

He’s a selfish man. And that is not very Christian.

  • Roy

I pray every day that God tells Roy to run for Governor in 2010. He just might be the next Bobby Jindal.

It’s unsurprising to see that Moore, an alleged champion of moral law, is receiving de facto support from deceptive polling groups. Having Moore in the race might make things interesting, but his over-emphasis of religion and ethics qua ethics will drag the race down. He is devoid of the least qualification for the office. He has exploited the christian right for long enough, and should stop milking the Bible in his quest for political power.

I question the faith of any Christian who copyrights the Ten Commandments.

A word about Roy Moore: NO.

  • No

Moore is notorious for producing bogus polls. He had several of his supporters convinced in 2006 he would beat Riley RIGHT UP TO ELECTION DAY with “polls” like the one cited.

The supporters he once had who had any influence at all are now solidly committed to Tim James. He is grasping at straws.

Don’t sell Roy short, he has a core following, that will cause problems in a Republican Primary.

Our opponents in the Progressive Party can only sitting back and smiling over the idea of Roy in a Primary fight.

The Autur vs Little Jim Primary should jkeep the mischief makers home in their own primary.

  • Rambling thoughts

What fight? Roy Moore did not even carry his home box in 2006. I think that old adage “home folks know you best” fits here. The atheist got more votes in 2006 than Roy Moore. Those who think there is a “fight” coming should re-think their position. It would would be more like “wrassling” where the outcome is already decided.

This is a joke. Listen to your selfs, Roy Moore is ahead, but I don’t like the polling company. You are pouting like a bunch of children. Roy Moore is ahead, good for him, he was ahead last time this far out. Time will tell if he can hold the lead. To those of you who think Moore is behind this poll you are wrong, it was paid for by a man in GA, and Moore had no idea it was being done.

You think Roy Moore has lost his support because of the last election. Well look at Tim James he lost to Bob Riley too, but he only got 9%, and that was before Riley was a popular incumbent. The point is, Roy Moore got more of the vote then Tim James and Steve Windom put together. Roy Moore will make the runoff for sure, and then I think he will win it.

I know two people who were polled as part of this charade. They were asked about their favorable/unfav opinions of Moore, Davis, James, and Ivey. Then they were asked what would politely be called push qustions: Moore is a devoted Christian who opposes abortion and gay rights..Davis is a recently married man who supports abortion on demand and has supported some gay rights positions..Ivey is an unmarried older woman who has never taken stands on gay rights and is a career politician..Who would you support?

Pretty slimy stuff. Makes you wonder if part of the purpose of the poll was to attack Davis and Ivey, since no reputable campaign would consider the results of such a push poll reliable or even helpful to raise money.

One little note: according to an article that I saw on another site, the poll actually showed both Ivey and Davis had very high favorables and name rec, which was apparently the result before the push polling kicked in. Also, the money source of the poll is apparently a hard right guy of Georgia who has major business interest in the state.

  • Whoa Nelly

He is a Roy Swindle all not Jindal.
