NRCC Ad in AL-02

Filed under: Campaign & Election, AL and DC — Danny @ 10:40 am

Thanks to a reader who alerted me to this ad that the NRCC has been running in AL-02. Republican Jay Love is competing against Democrat Bobby Bright for the seat being vacated by retiring Republican Terry Everett.

  1. How true that he takes money from liberal minded democrats in DC. Heck, that is all the money he has right now according to the FEC!

  2. I think the Freedom Watch ad is a bit better. The message is essentially the same. I would think there should be some variety in the ads at some point. Voters may be “Nancy Pelosi-ed” out . . .

  3. These ads are terrible. These groups just need to contribute to the candidates and let them devise the message. Isn’t Dothan’s sales tax 10% too? Isn’t there anything better to talk about?

    Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2008 @ 12:20 pm

  4. Well we could talk about all of Jay love’s accomplishemnts: I will list them for you here:

There ya go. Not much to talk about there . . .

  5. ummmm…no….the sales tax in Dothan is not 10cents. That would be in Montgomery folks. So happy shopping….and I hope your car doesn’t get stolen at the Montgomery Mall! Oh wait….it’s deserted.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2008 @ 1:38 pm

  6. Montgomery’s sales tax: state 4%, county 2.5%, city 3.5%

    Dothan’s sales tax: state 4%, county 1%, city 4%

    ====================

Dothan’s city portion of sales tax is higher than Montgomery’s city portion, but Houston County’s is lower than MGM Co’s.

  7. “I ain’t gonna put one (expleteive deleted) cent into downtown redevelopment” - Emory Folmar, 1995. (Shortly before the implosion of yet another downtown building).

2008 - a brand new 4-star hotel, a successful professional baseball team, and a new Kyser-backed entertainment district all have come to downtown Montgomery - along with Hyundai.

Which path for Montgomery do you prefer?

    Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2008 @ 2:36 pm

  8. Well you guys should be happy to keep him as mayor for a long, long time then. Enjoy!

    Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2008 @ 4:19 pm

  9. That is my image they stole to use in that ad. Sorry bastards. Let’s see what they think about talking to my copyright lawyer. What kind of candidate for office would steal an artists’ work in their district.

    Comment by Sunsurfr Photography — October 17, 2008 @ 4:27 pm

  10. There is so much hate and toxic deceit spewing from the Love camapign. Jay Love should never walk in First Baptist without hanging his head. He knows that his trash ads and the literature against Bright is full of lies. The altered endorsement video he is sending around is proof that he is a thug and not worthy of serving in any public office.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2008 @ 8:20 pm

  11. This campaign (by Jay Love) will go down in the books as one of the worst. I have never been emotionally involved in a campaign before but I will truly enjoy watching his defeat on Nov. 4th.

    Comment by Karen Sawyer, Montgomery — October 17, 2008 @ 8:24 pm

  12. I do not know who is running Jay Love’s campaign but they need to find a new line of work - like making license plates. The worst thing is Jay does not have the strength of character to stand up to them. He will lose and will never have a future in politics again.

    Comment by CJWilson — October 17, 2008 @ 8:27 pm

  13. Wow. The Bright thugs have reached their climax. I love it when you guys see your own ship sinking. You make false accusations, spew hate, piss all over everyone else and then try to tell us it is raining. Bright folks are the biggest hypocrits I have seen in a long, long time. Take a look in the mirror folks.

  14. the campaign bobby is running is the most phony campaign ever run, sadly enough he actually has people believing that he has run a positive campaign - guess he is better at bs than originally thought.

that little circus he put on signing that “pledge” may have seemed all warm and fuzzy, but ole bobby is just a fraud and has luckily been exposed. which is why the cash well is dry and he is losing.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2008 @ 8:37 pm

  15. I don’t know about the tone of the campaign or the “facts” being thrown around, but what I do know is that the Republicans stole my photo - and that is a fact! The downtown night cityscape in this ad is mine and they used it without permission or compensation! I haven’t seen the Democrats do that. If a candidate would steal from a local Montgomery constituent, what would they do in DC!

    Comment by Sunsurfr Photography — October 17, 2008 @ 8:54 pm

  16. Sunsurfr: I really hope you have that photo registered with the copyright office in DC. Otherwise, all you can collect is what they should have paid you for the use of the image. A registered image enables you to go after punitive damages. Good luck.

  17. get a life sunsurf

    Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2008 @ 10:41 pm

  18. Sunsurfr - sue them. Bankrupt them so the true Republicans can take back our party. We must step up and rid ourselves of the current leadership and replace them with actual conservative leaders. Men and women with a vision that extends beyond hatred, bigotry, and protection of self-interest.

    Comment by RRabton — October 17, 2008 @ 11:07 pm

  19. Yeah RRabton, the Democrats really represent conservatism, lack of hatred, bigotry and of course democrats never do anything to protect their own self interest.

  20. I saw yesterday where Jay Love was complaining about Bright using the image of Love’s wife and kids coming out of church. Love was saying he was upset with Bright doing that. Now let me see was it not Love who hit all of us over the head constantly with the Christian, Christian, Christian stuff for months. Was it not Love who used that image in one of his very first campaign ads to underscore how holy holy he was. Love sounds like a kid in first grade saying, “he started it, he hit me first.” Get some stones Love. While Bright using the image is a bit edgy all the stuff you have been doing for months has far exceeded crossing the line. When Love put himself out their as a saint he should have been able to back it up. Love pray for Bobby according to you he is not the man you are. By the way while you are on the praying front throw in a word or two for ole Swateska.

    Comment by Tim Banks — October 18, 2008 @ 7:43 am

  21. I think voters are just tuning this ad out as more of the same trash talk against Bright. The only people listening to it are the ones who wrote it. Did I see last week where the Christian Coalition took a swipe at Love for one of his anti-Bright press releases?

    Comment by Anonymous — October 18, 2008 @ 11:55 am

  22. Jay Love, along with the NRC and Freedom’s watch, are losing this battle! Keep the Positive forward movement Bright campaign, and Bobby will be headed to Washington!

    Comment by Person Over Party — October 19, 2008 @ 12:43 am

  23. Yes and they know Love is truly not the man we need in Congress.

    Comment by anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 3:03 am

  24. I see all the Montgomery Bright supporters are on here. Too bad Montgomery doesn’t carry the weight you think it does in the district.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 7:47 am

  25. I am so proud of Bobby Bright! His campaign is so well run and positive. His new ad with the “people on the street” is once again upbeat and wholesome. Everywhere I go the talk about this race is how desperate and negative Jay Love appears and how Bobby Bright is showing the utmost integirty. I hope Bright does not give in to the temptation to go negative. I doubt he will from what I have seen in the past (Mayor’s elections) A campaign is a great test of character, and so far Bright is passing with flying colors!

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 7:50 am

  26. Thank you 25, look past the bobby bright sign in your yard and you will see that bright has a host of friends that are being incredibly negative on his behalf, and he is sitting back and smiling in approval while they do it. but it seems that you are easily fooled, so will save any further proof for someone who is able to make rational decisions.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 9:27 am

  27. I could not agree more with post 26. Bright has the Democrats and other folks doing all his dirty work yet he wants to act as if his hands are clean and he is being positive. It’s a total crock. He just smiles and thinks all is well. He will be proven wrong on Nov. 4

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 1:06 pm

  28. For the Jay Love staff on here to call anyone in the Bright campaign negative is astonishing. You guys are complete lowlifes and that is the word on the street. It is more than just an issue of negative, your ads and political tricks like sending out the altered video of Bright are below any level of decent politics. You live in an echo-chamber listening to each other and do not realize that the talk throughout this district (outside of the core right wing base) is that Jay is so unworthy As a result of his own immaturity and political greed along with his substandard campaign staff’s advice, he is finished.
If it is any different than that, show us your poll.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 2:58 pm

  29. #28 You are sooooo right. This one will be for the books and the end is near. The Jay Love camp -staff and all-is pretty much finished.
    Sweet Justice!

    Comment by CJWilson — October 19, 2008 @ 3:00 pm

  30. #27 Face it, as hard as it is for you to understand, Bright is running a clean, honorable campaign. Just because you and your campaign can not comprehend such a commitment to stay on the high road, with Bobby it is real.. I volunteer in the campaign and I hear it straight from him. Politicians like ya’ll are what gives this process such a bad name.

    Comment by Bright Supporter — October 19, 2008 @ 3:04 pm

  31. Can someone please tell me how a video of Bright dancing around and trying to avoid answering a question is altered? I find it amazing that Bright supporters get on here and hurl personal insults and baseless accusations at Jay Love and his staff. You don’t hear that kind of personal garbage from the Love side. It is ridiculous. You also don’t see the RNC or Freedom’s Watch us Bright’s family in ads or question his personal faith. The DNC and Bright have done both. Yet Love is the one you accuse of runnning a dirty and mean spirited campaign? You guys are the ultimate in hypocrisy.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 6:12 pm

  32. Jay Love put himself out there with his faith and then proved the opposite by his actions. It’s that simple.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 8:48 pm

  33. You altered a video by cutting it off mid-sentence and you know it. You are so deeply deceitful. It will backfire just hang on!!!!!!!!

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 8:50 pm

  34. what did Bright say after he said yes that he supported OBAMA?

And 32, What has Love done that Bright and the DCCC have not? Grow up.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 9:54 pm

  35. Bright realized that he just revelealed his true belief and support of obama, and then desperately tried to spin and claim support for everyone with a pulse (because he is spineless) as well as his buddy obama. What a fraud.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 19, 2008 @ 10:42 pm

  36. bright lacks backbone on this issue. If he will not stand up now to democrats, why should we think he will later? It’s a joke.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 20, 2008 @ 8:04 am

  37. Love is doing everything he is told by the republican party. Bright has enough backbone and strength to stand up in Alabama and run as a Conservative Democrat. Love and the whole republican party are really desperate. It is a sign that some very influential republicans of District 2 have endorsed Bright. That is enough said. November is Bright’s.

    McCain, Sessions, Bright ‘08

    Comment by Anonymous — October 20, 2008 @ 8:30 am

  38. Influential Rs have endorsed Bright? Hardly.

And if Bright is “his own man” and really an independent, then why is he hiding behind Pelosi’s skirt and afraid to say who he supports for President? Oh wait…he did….OBAMA. But then he and his supporters started yelling that was not so for fear the DNC would cut off his money and their negative ads.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 20, 2008 @ 10:23 am

  39. The Love campaign attacked Blue-Dog Congressman Heath Shuler for endorsing Bright. The Love campaign said terrible untrue things about Heath Shuler, chairman of the National Prayer Breakfast. Shuler also received an award from Focus on the Family. The Love campaign’s press release was so nasty, Christian Coalition Chairman, Dr. Randy Brinson, spoke out against the actions of the Love campaign, and in support of Heath Shuler. Love should pay attention to Heath Shuler, who is apparently more in tune with Christian conservatives in Alabama than Love is.
