Federal Election Commission Quarterly Reports are in

Filed under: Campaign & Election, AL and DC — waltm @ 5:41 pm

The AP story at the Times Daily summarizes and analyzes  the reports better than I.  So, please read it.  No sense in adding salt to the chef’s meal.

Below the fold I’ll put links to the actual reports.  For some reason, the reports for the Senate candidates are not yet available neither is the report for Nicholas Sparks.

Mavens please include in comments links to other FEC data sources.

Something to ponder would Segall’s tactic of multiple small donations over the net been more successful in a non Presidential election?

  1. Bobby is in trouble. Bad week for dems all the way around. Seems bobby also has a little problem with paying his debts too. Well, at least when it’s over, he won’t have to move. He can carry on raising taxes and watching the biscuits play, revelling in his success as a mayor.

  2. Wow. Bright looks terrible. Totally broke. I guess trial lawyers haven’t given him enough? They are greedy I guess. If the DNC was not running negative ads against Love for him, Bright would have no campaign.

  3. “The latest finance reports show that Bright, a Democrat, was essentially broke as of Oct. 1. He reported $66,190 in the bank but debts of $73,620″

  4. No way around it, that’s a bad number (Bright I mean). One thing about the national parties is that they’ll pull resources on candidates that won’t help themselves. I’m not saying they’ll pull out on Bright, but someone has to be asking what happened.

I suppose there is a chance that Bright is holding all his donations to report at the last minute. Some have done that in the past to minimize the impact of unsavory donors. But Love has already criticized all the “liberal” money given to Bright. Unless he’s on the take from Obama himself, there’s not really a risk there.

Doubtful he’d hold back checks when it results in embarrassment. And by embarrassment, I mean in DC. No one is going to decide their vote by who has money. This is an insiders game.

  5. OK. Grown-up time is over.

Now let’s question Jay Love’s manhood and talk about how his press secretary is the worst person in the world.

  6. Post 5 - get a life.

I looked over Bright’s donors and it is slam full of attorneys…go figure.

  7. good point, 5, the next 87 posts will be irrelevant.

  8. Nicholas Sparks has no campaign donations as the crotch grab photo (or was it the inappropriate sexual act simulation at his rock show? maybe both) discovered on the Internet ended his campaign in May.

Does he even have a campaign office?

The dems frothing endlessly about the other bozos running for office in this state have been mum on Sparks, so he is definitely a pariah in his own party. How can you even try to campaign against Aderholt when all Aderholt would have to do in return is hold up one of those pictures of Sparks? Game set match in two seconds. Would’ve been fun to watch though.

  9. Dunno about his campaign office but Sparks has been certified by his party as a candidate. So, has to be included.

Agree it would have been fun to watch the reaction at the Fayette Knitting and Fellowship Society town hall debate.

  10. Bobby Bright put in $100. Jay Love has put in $822,000. What is wrong with this picture????? Who is in debt and who is in trouble?

  11. All the rabid Bright supporters are suddenly silent. Hmmmm…..I guess since he is broke they had to cut off internet service at his campaign HQ. But all those at Montgomery City Hall should still be on here. Where are you guys?

  12. #10, even if you take out jay’s money, he has still raised more money than the great bobby, who is the biggest “independent” fraud that ever ran for office.

  13. This just verifies my original statement that the poll the Bright campaign released a few days ago was nothing but an attempt to appear relevant in hopes of getting contributions. Contributions that apparently are much more needed that I originally thought

  14. Griffith should win.

Bright’s star fading a bit and Segall peaking at the right time.

  15. Jay is dumping his own money in because he doesn’t know how to manage a business, and he is running a bad campaign.

Bright just keeps on keeping on. Jay has the money, but BRIGHT HAS THE LOVE!!

  16. Get Real 15. Bright is a sinking ship and folks are leaping over board.

  17. Post 16,

You need a break because you appear to be out of touch with reality. Bright remains very much the man to beat in this race. This is a fact come Nov 4.

  18. Things are so bad for Love is his showing his desperation by getting all his staffers to blog about poor, pitiful Bobby. Loves wants to focus on the campaign money to get all the attention off the fact his campaign is associated with Las Vegas gamblers. Even worse by way of this affiliation Love apparently supports more economic development in China than he does in Alabama. After all he has passed almost as much legislation in this foreign communist country as he has here in Alabama in the actual legislature he is a member of. Someone needs to start asking Love what his policies are on China. Does Love favor letting China imports into this country so they poison our kids and seniors? Love is scary. Love will sell out for a dollar in a second. No backbone means a bought and paid for congressman if we elect this lying communist supporter.

  20. Grassroots will make the difference, obviously, in both AL 2 and AL 5.

The question is: If we know that the GOTV for the black (95% dem) vote and anti-Bush vote is high, how can the GOP respond?

    Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2008 @ 7:52 am

  21. Bright isn’t short of money and I am a Republican. The thing is the national Demos have way way way more money than the GOP this year. Bright will have the money because Washington will pour it in. The GOP is hurting for money to help congressional candidates this year, and that will make a difference down the stretch. Bright looks broke, but he isn’t. Jay has his money, but he may not get that much Washington dough. That’s just a fact of this election year.

  22. Post 21 - thanks for pointing out the the national dems are trying to buy this seat for Bright and that without their negative ads he is flat broke. that is why he not dare say a negative word about a dem….they will cut off his money. he is showing he is controlled by DC dems. what a shock.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2008 @ 9:19 am

  23. Post 22 I don’t disagree that Bright is heavily financed by the national Demo party. That’s a fact. But Love is heavily financed by loans from himself. I find it very interesting that NEITHER of these two candidates are raising much money in Alabama. That says volumes.
