  1. everytime the dccc or bright releases an ad it shows up here. love, the rnc and freedoms watch all have ads running and none of them are posted. weird.

anyway, it is odd that the dccc seems to want to attack freedom’s watch in this ad more than they want to attack Love. and bright goes around complaining about guilt by association when he is tied to pelosi and then says he has no control over the negative dccc ads in any way. yet this very ad tries to do guilt by association with love and also give the impression love has control over freedom’s watch. hypocrisy at its best on bright’s part.

BUT, this whole ad and others from the dccc come down to one thing and it makes them totally un effective. When the ad ends with the statement “PAID FOR BY THE DEMOCRAT CONGRESSIONAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE” it turns the majority of people in district 2 off.

  2. Anonymous, I like to post every ad in every race that I can. I find that readers enjoy them.

If an available ad is not posted here, it is because I don’t know about it. Funny how that works, but I can’t post about ads that I don’t know about.

Feel invited to send links to ads that you notice have not shown up here.

    Thanks!

  3. BTW, Anonymous, here is a Freedom’s Watch ad you missed that was posted here in the Parlor. But as I say, if I don’t know about them, I can’t post them.

    :)

  4. Hey Danny. Freedom’s watch has had two ads since that one and I think the RNC has had two. I will look for links and will send if I can find them. Good to add to the discussion with them.

  5. I actually think this ad will help Jay. It hits a little too hard. Showing his wife and children coming out of church with him and calling him a liar won’t sell well in this state. Perhaps these Washington types should stay out of these races–on both sides.

  6. Best ad thus far this campaign season. I call this hitting ole Jay between the eyes. Jay is for economic development alright. In China. What was it ole Jay was saying about people taking gambling money? Get the shoe out of your mouth Jay. You’ve been caught “RED” handed.

  7. Post 5

With all the negative ads that Jay Love and Freedom Watch have posted against Bright and used his photo in them so maliciously and to say this one won’t sell well? You have got to be a complete idiot and must be smoking something if you think that! This one is a drop in the bucket compared to the ones that have been running lately against Bright. Get real buddy!

  8. And right after that is when you hear paid for by the democrat congressional campaign committee.

Bright knew the dems would run this type of campaign on his behalf. he knew it from the start…we all did. I think it hurts bright. makes him look like a hypocrit when he says he runs a positive campaign. the average joe six pack on the street does not think “hmmm….the dccc ran that and bright had nothing to do with it” They will see it as Bright having a negative campaign. And of course that works both ways….an ad from freedom’s watch or the RNC has the same effect on Love. But Bright needs to stop acting so holier than though about it all.

  9. This will help Bright! Jay Love is a liar. Bright can’t control the DCCC. Everyone knows that he doesn’t have any say in the ads being run by the DCCC. IT is illegal for Bright to have any contact with the DCCC about their ads. GREAT FOR DCCC! Bright has been too clean in this race and has taken a lot of hits from the Love campaign. I’m glad the DCCC is defending and posting the truth for the people to see!

  10. PP, what an appropriate name…but don’t “PP” all over us and try to tell us it’s raining. This whole ad is about Freedom’s Watch and by your admission, Jay Love has absolutely nothing to do with them. Thanks for making the point.

AND THE VIDEO CUTTING. —proof of the lies. LOVE’S CAMPAIGN CUT THE VIDEO OF BRIGHT SPEAKING. desperate!

This ad is great! way to go DCCC!
THE DCCC HAS TO STAND UP AGAINST THE MISLEADING ADS!

    Comment by PP — October 15, 2008 @ 9:02 pm

  12. I Can’t believe Republican Mike Hubbard’s press conference saying that Bright needed to tell the DCCC not to run the ads.

HUBBARD NEEDED TO TALK TO AN ATTORNEY BEFORE HE HELD THAT PRESS CONFERENCE! IT IS ILLEGAL FOR BRIGHT TO CONTACT THE DCCC ABOUT THE ADS! HAHA, HUBBARD MADE THE WHOLE ALABAMA REPUBLICAN PARTY LOOK BAD. EMBARRASSING TO LOVE.

NEXT TIME, HE MIGHT WANT TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON CAMPAIGN LAW!

    Comment by Person Over Party — October 15, 2008 @ 9:06 pm

  13. Bright could ask the DCCC not to run ads in his district you fool. Nothing wrong with that. You need to do the research for sure.

And I love that you tube spot - thanks for showing. Everyone is laughing at Obobby as he stumbles around “i take that back - i want to take that back!!!” Why do you think everyone was laughing? Because it is getting comical how he can’t take a stand and tries to dance around. Imagine that, I posted a comment without using ALL CAPS!

  16. Here is the dilema. The Catch 22 of asking a 3rd party to take down an ad is that if they respond to the request and remove the ad, the 3rd party has coordinated with the candidate (which is a ciminal offense). So in reality, if you want them to take down an ad you actually CAN’T ask them to do so.

The truth is that Freedom’s Watch and the Republicans have run almost twice as many negative ads as the DCCC (remember the DCCC ran positive ads for Bright until the republicans went negative).

    Comment by Anonymous — October 15, 2008 @ 9:49 pm

  17. “You actually can’t ask them to do so,” luckily there is evidence to the contrary, see nancy boyda. Guess she is going through some sort of campaign law issue right now? No, she is not. Boyda, a democrat like ole mayberry bobby, told the dccc ‘not to put their liberal money in her race.’ Doubt she used the pony express, you bunch of bright sheep, I bet she called them. Just like bobby could do, but he won’t, because he is a lacky for the dems. What a fraud bobby bright is.

  18. To you at the Jay-boy camp. Your deceit is going to bite you!

    Comment by Anonymous — October 16, 2008 @ 6:39 am

  19. You absolutely, as a candidate, can request the Rep. Committee or the Democrat Committee to stay out of your race. It has been done before. But Bright will not. Why? Because he knows he needs their money. Pelosi, Rangle and the like love to send checks to Bobby and he gladly takes them. He also knew the dems would run negative commercials on his behalf. He is a total fraud to say otherwise and his campaign staff thinks the folks in district 2 are too dumb to know better. They are counting on the fact that no one will see through them.

  20. http://www.nancyforcongress.com/node/27

It can be done but has to be done via the media and not directly to a 527 group. Neither Bright nor Love will do this but Bright should stop running around acting like he can’t control it.

  21. It is amazing all the Lovers want to do now is try to turn attention to the outside parties running ads. What about the claims made in the latest ad? I am sure Love will not respond to it because it would appear to ad credence to it. The silence from the Lovers about the claims in the ad are deafening. I guess all the Lovers are still picking themselves off the floor after being punched right in the gut. Way to go DCCC. Great, great ad. It sure would be a great time for Harri Anne Smith to issue a statement considering Love made a full throttle attack on her regarding a possible connection with a local businessman, not like Love who is in bed with the biggest U.S. investor in Red China. Shameful Jay Love. It is really scary how bad you want to be elected a congressman. Love should remember one day his kids will find out about this campaign. They will learn how about the people their dad associated with to try and get elected. Looks like Love is not a man of principles at all unless they pad his fat wallet.

  22. As far as Mike Hubbard, he has so damaged his credibility by his conduct in the CD2 race - including backing Jay in a contested primary - that IF Jay loses this race his tenure as party chair will be effectively over if and when media calls this race for Bright. Write that down.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 16, 2008 @ 7:51 am

  23. Post 21 Amen to that!

It just goes without saying that Hubbard is so desperate right now that he will try anything, trust me. Although, this election is in Bright’s favor due to earlier actions of Hubbard and Love.

  24. #16 - I am not sure if you are ingoring the facts or just ill-informed.

The truth is that about 6 months ago Nancy Boyda asked all 3rd party groups (including the DCCC) to stay out of her race. No groups where running ads in the district at the time and none have since (at least that I am aware of). No one knows if the DCCC planned to spend money there or not. Therefore there is no way to prove coordination.

This actually comes from the link on Boyda’s site that was posted in #20.
“Federal law prohibits candidates from communicating directly with any organization that runs independent expenditure ads, even to request that an ad be taken off the air.”

Again, it is not really possible for a candidate (Love or Bright) to get an outside group to stop running ads. Also, ads had not started running in this district when she asked them to stay out. There is a big difference. Truth is that all public polling has shown her well ahead, and there is no reason for the DCCC to spend its money here.

  26. This is also directly from Boyda’s site. Typical of Bright’s supporters to only show part of the story.

Boyda’s Independent Campaign: D.C. Group Pulls Ads from Kansas Airwaves
AT BOYDA’S REQUEST, DCCC PULLS RESERVED AD TIME IN KANSAS SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

TOPEKA, KS – The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), responding to a public request by Congresswoman Nancy Boyda (Kansas Second District), today canceled $1.2 million in reserved airtime for campaign commercials on Kansas television stations. Congresswoman Boyda said, “This is terrific news for anyone who believes that Kansas voters should control Kansas campaigns. By canceling their ads, the DCCC has given Kansas the chance to run our election without Washington interference.”

  27. No way bright has the cojones to ask the DCCC to pull ads nor say who he supports for President. he will not stand up to Dems now so why should we expect him to later?

  28. Being accused of having no balls by Jay Love is like being accused of having B.O. by Pepe Le Pew.

    Comment by Anonymous — October 16, 2008 @ 1:15 pm

  31. If the DCCC pulls the ads after being asked to they will have effectively coordinated and then we will see Jay Love whining that Bright is coordinating with the DCCC (and Barack Obama).

  32. Jay Love - as manly as Richard Simmons doing rhythmic gymnastics to the soundtrack of “A Star Is Born” . . . .

  34. Jay Love is an Alabama Republican Party Puppet. Him and Hubbard are giving the party a bad name. Love should have waited a few years and gained some maturity before running. His record in the Legislature is evidence, along with his campaign strategies.
