Love absolutely is turning voters off to him. This is very much like a lot of people are turning off to both presidential candidates. A lot of people gave some credit to Love early on when they were first being introduced to him. The new paint on Jay is starting to fade terribly. A lot of people now are making the determination, either Love is really stupid and completely unaware of the stuff his staff is pulling or they see Jay as wanting to get to Congress so badly he will lie his way through the final days of the campaign. As for someone on here who claimed Smith in the runoff started the political warfare first you obviously are in lock and step with the Jay Love campaign technique of lying. For Love to say the gambling attacks were just politics and his staff made him do it is ridiculous. Whether it is a gambling accusation or an accusation that Smith was having affairs with multiple men it is all the same. It is not true and it was completely below the belt. Why in the world would Love and the Riley & Mike Hubbard cronies expect her to give two seconds of thought to endorsing Love after the way the privileged few of the elite party membership abandoned her, a loyal state GOP senator in a Senate where every vote is needed. All the best to the Bright campaign. While I don’t agree with his positions on many issues I do admire the man for keeping the political back and forth to a reasonable level. Love has stooped way below even the belts of the sorry bunch of punk consultants who are leading him around by the nose. Bright at least appears to have a backbone. Love clearly does not.
It is so obvious looking at Love’s ad. When you are down in the polls you go negative. You have too.
Love is, and always has been, a weak sister.

If you have to go negative because you are behind then why has the DNC run two negative ads against Love? Neither candidate has a huge lead. Reality folks….get some.
I dont know 51 and 52, but I posted 50. Call it “bull” or whatever you want but I know what I saw and i am not trying to convince you of anything. I just want to talk politics and what I have seen. Bright’s lead was huge (9 points)in that poll (you don’t have to remind me that polls are not always correct), and was beating Loves badly in Houston county, and was leading in all other counties except Autauga and Elmore.
I don’t have a dog in this fight and could care less who wins, but I do have to agree with 51 too. Jay Love’s ads do look like someone who is behind and knows it. No scientific proof there, just a thought from someone that is as an observer.
I do hope Bright and others, think he is ahead by 9.

Oh, my goodness. You wouldn’t believe how involved Ronnie Gilley is in this election. I think he’s out of money, so all he can do is b@$#$!!!! Please go to wiregrasslive, and read In the Know’s post, and MANY more to see Gilley trying to defeat Love. That man is dangerous. Roid Rage !!!!! I hope J. Love just keeps playing it cool, and he’ll ride in with the Republican party. I was voting for Bright until Gilley got in the picture. A lot of other folks as well.
This is really interesting. The Love staffers are once again getting worked up about a business person in south Alabama. Lets assume his bingo facility was up and running turning out money. I guess that would make him a bona fide gaming guy. Well, the bingo parlor is not constructed nor turning any gaming revenue for one. Two, you Love consultants want everyone to get all worked up about this Gilley. This is like telling folks a gnat is more dangerous than a tiger. Looks like Love is in bed with the Vegas gaming boys. These are real gambling interests. More of the christian me B*JSJKITI the Love camp wants to toss around. Jay is in bed with Las Vegas period. I hear Bright plans to expose it in the next couple of weeks in a very big way.
If that is Gilley, and you claim he is working so hard to defeat Love, then why does he have so few post on Wiregrass Live? And how do you know it is him? Also, does he not post on there as himself?

Gilley is dangerous and HAS embraced him. They deserve each other. I hope Bright is smarter than to be involved in such but when he is an AEA, McGregor and Jerry Beasley’s pawn….I don’t know.

I found one of the Jay Love smear sheets at my door today. I hope this guy is exposed soon. He is acting like he is fraught with desperation. He is so, so unworthy to serve anywhere in public office. Bright will win and good will prevail over evil.
Jay Love is obssessed with Bobby Bright. He reacts to evertything Bright does and spends his time and money running against Bright/Pelosi rather than for the position on his own merits. SAD
I check all the blogs and no matter which congressional race has an ad posted, the Love/Bright spots will triple the hits and responses. It never ceases to amaze me. Even Segall reducing his deficit to less than 8 or 9 points has not generated any of the hyper activity that Love/Bright has, and their latest polling numbers have not been posted, although I know for sure that Capital City Survery has complteted a survey. and will release those numbers in the next day or two. Interesting.
I know Jay Love and even though he has never been a very personable guy, I thought he was a decent person. I have been shocked at how he has run his campaign. I do not know if it is the people he has hired to run it, or if he was without real character all along. Even if it is the people he brought on to run his campaign influencing him, we do not need a man in Congress who does bot have the moral fiber to resist bad advice and maintain his integity in difficult times. I will cross over, against my own desires, and vote for Bright.
Post 62, you and others of the Love camp think of this site like some exclusive country club. God forbid some average, apolitical folks might actually open their mouths and comment and your exclusive blog. What you and the consultant airheads fail to realize is these are the very people who make up the congressional district in the 2nd and all around the country. Some of you consultant nuts have not set one foot into a real area of the wiregrass aside from showing up with the whole Love camp at a staged coffee club visit or some field masked with John Deere tractors for a staged photo op. I am willing to bet Jay Love has never even turned the key on a tractor. I am also willing to be Jay Love probably could not even master a riding lawnmower. I have seen the Jay Love ad against Bobby Bright several times – the one where he claims 58% increase in unemployment.This is without a doubt an all new low. It is very obvious that J Love is frantic. Does he really think voters will buy into 58% increase in unemployment. I didn’t even need to look at the numbers but I did, and this is a a complete fraud. Jay Love just GIVE IT UP. Do not destroy what is left of your political future. I am embarressed for my GOP.

He has at least a half dozen names on Wiregrass Live. IF you are smart, you can read and decipher. They are just essays on Love hate, and the joys of Bobby Bright. He despised Bright when he tried to stop his gambling debacle. I’m smart enough to see the similarities. He keeps starting new topics about Jay Love. If I were Jay, I’d get him for stalking. You should hear him in person ranting and raving about Jay Love. Yes, HAS embraced Gilley, but I’d sure like to know what she thinks about him now.

It is powerful – the best from the DCCC by far. I thought the first one was weak.
I did see someone above trot out once again that “Jay just voted for the Amendment 1 referendum.” That is just not true and it is insulting the intelligence of people who know the truth to say that.
Several legislators DID in fact vote for ONLY the referendum and not the taxes – but Jay Love wasn’t one of them and that is cold hard provable fact. He voted for most of the individual taxes AND the referendum. Saying otherwise is not true, and if #5 is still around THAT is one of the many things Jay Love has lied about in this campaign.
Post 75 – you make no sense. If someone voted for the referendum, but not any of the bills that made up the actual referendum then what good is it? You would have voted yes to send an empty referendum. Get real.
Love is going to lose. At first, I thought it would be close. However, now November will be Bright’s. Everyone knows it. Love and his communications guy have screwed themselves. I’m very familiar with the district. Its about to go democrat and I’ve talked to enough people from District 2 to know they’d rather have a Democrat (surprisingly enough, even the country folk) than to have a liar like Jay.
Todd Stacy is a sleazy dude. He was sleazy at Auburn and he was even a part of the nasty racist attacks on Harold Ford Jr in 2006 and now he is bringing his dirtbag politics to Alabama to attack Bobby Bright. Stacy should be ashamed of himself and so should Jay Love. He should apologize for his comments in the paper attacking the Mayor’s family. At least Bobby Bright has a family that supports him and stands up for him regardless of political party!

It is amazing all the Love haters on here that act as if Bright is in an easy lead. I doubt either Bright or Love lead by much over each other, which ever the case may be. The race is very close and everyone knows it. People say with a large minority turn out that Bright can win. I agree. But will the monority vote be much bigger in Alabama than other Presidential elections? I doubt it. The reason being…the get out the vote and the huge push to register, etc. is concentrated in toss up states. Alabama is not a toss up – it will easily go for McCain so the big push for minority voters will not be as strong here as in CO, Iowa, New Mexico, Ohio, etc.
Also, so many on here say “I know both candidates” or “I know what he did (Bright) in Montgomery”…etc. Clearly a lot of Pro Bright Montgomery people on here. Montgomery, as noted in another post, is a small part of district 2. Autauga, Elmore and the Wiregrass are more important than Montgomery in many ways. Many of the bloggers on here seem to feel the self importance of Montgomery. Yes, it has its place but don’t over do it guys. And to say Bright leads in every county south of Montgomery is several steps short of reality. Does he lead in some? yes. Does Love lead in some? yes. It would be nice if the Love haters would settle down and stop spitting their venom. But so be it. It shows their character.
Stacy is repulsive. Someone in the Love Campaign needs to tell him that lies and greasy hair don’t go together very well. After this campaign, he will find a good job at a car dealership somewhere!
If Stacy was smart, I could have understood why he was hired, but he’s not!? Must of been Riley’s most dispensable choice.

#76 – here is the plain clear undeniable difference that proves without questioin Jay love voted FOR taxes and NOT for the referendum – stated yet again:
There was a package of abut 19 taxes (by my recollection). Jay voted for about 10 of the taxes that came up for a vote – about 12 actually came up for a vote. Jay DID vote against a couple but voted YES on far more.
So even Jay’s own actions show that there was an importance to voting yes or no on the individual tax votes – as he voted yes on a bunch but NOT ALL of the taxes.
If he was just voting “for the referendum” – as you claim – he should have either 1) voted for ALL of the taxes and the referendum or 2) voted ONLY for the referendum (as a number of legislators did). His voting YES on a majority of the taxes indicates – undeniably – approval of THOSE taxes as he voted against others.
That is just logic.
Only the taxes that PASSED made it into the tax package – and a few were defeated. So yes or no votes on individual taxes WERE important. Without question.
Tell the truth.
. . .and additionally #76 – IF Jay Love had voted for only say 2 of the taxes and only those 2 taxes passed, the only THOSE TWO would have been in the referendum – not TWELVE SPARATE TAXES. So Jay Love assisted in a FAR GREATER TAX PACKAGE going to voters.

# 83 I agree with a part of your assessment but I beg to differ about this being a Montgomery thing to be a Jay Love basher. That man is disliked throughtout the district. If you do not believe it, stop in a country store or diner in the Wiregrass and see what the average/non-political type voter thinks of him. They did not take well to his treatment of Harri Anne and expeceted it to start up with Bright and it surely has. Also, maybe you do not realize that Bright is respected and considered a homeboy by those folks. They have enjoyed a sense of pride around Dale County since he has done so well as Mayor. They claim him and will defend him. Those feelings are spreading like wildfire in the other southern counties. Jay Love has made one huge mistake after another since day one. Says a lot about his character and judgment.
Let me tell you this. There is a hidden factor in this election. It was Bright who brought in baseball after Emory made an ass out of himself all those years keeping it out. LOTS of people from throughout the district go to Biscuits games and they KNOW who made it possible. It very well could be a silent factor in this election.
AND, Baseball has been successful beyond all predictions. The city is not only paying for the stadium out of proceeds and merchandise, but they are making money!
too bad bobby’s greedy, keeping all that money instead of providing tax breaks to the people. omen of things to come with big tax bobby.
I beg to differ with Post 87. I am from the Wiregrass and I hear just the opposite from the majority of folks. Love is doing very well here absent Dale county. You’re not being honest otherwise. And there are very few that think Harri Anne Smith was mis treated. The vast majority know she jumped in the mud with both feet and gladly so.
And I must say I find all of the Amendment One crap just that….crap. Yes, you vote on a package. Some things you believe should go into the package and some things not. The whole point is, the entire time you are voting to put together a package you know it will be sent to public referendum. No taxes were to be passed on to the public unless they voted the referendum up. We didn’t. We voted it down. Don’t re write history. If you really want to get in a tax fight then talk about Bright lobbying for and being thrilled with the increase of the sales tax in Montgomery. He had the power to veto it….he didn’t.

I hear that the RNC told Love that he had to get rid of his old campaign staff (ie Swatex, Azbell, and a couple of other failures.) Talk about a group that is over rated!! The only reason Swatiska has any business in Alabama is because of his connections with Bill Canary and even he could not prevent the RNC from telling Love; get rid of them or we will cut offf your money… Voila!!! enter your grease ball Stacy…… That is how it happens folks… Just another effort to revive a failing campaign.. Alright y’all. Heard from a very reliable source today that besides Love receiving support by big Vegas gambling bosses (Freedom Watch), Milton is also padding his campaign with a little pocket money. Sure will be interesing to see his 3rd quarter FEC report. In the past Love has taken contributions from the oil companies and unions, even the ASEA in his initial run for the Alabama House, of course he paid them back with his “Yes” vote for that retroactive pay raise for state retirees. Wonder if they will help him out again at the last minute. I also heard that the Republican lady in Prattville that had the big “I’m Proud to be a Bright Republican” sign in her front yard woke up one morning to find that someone had stolen it. What that’s about? Is Love’s campaign paying folks to take down Bright signs on peoples private property? Heard that they had a description of the SUV and the driver that stole the sign. Ain’t politics fun stuff??

There must be something in the water in Montgomery City Hall today as you guys have gone nuts. If Bright was so far ahead and Love was not doing well, I certainly doubt there would be so much malice on here toward Love. And the last post must not realize McGregor is actually supporting Bobby Bright. At least that is the word in the Wiregrass and has been for the last month.
