There was a post previously (in another thread) when ALFA endorsed Jay Love that it meant nothing because they always endorse Republicans. I am glad to see folks on this thread, at least, know that is not true. They endorse good candidates, regardless of party.

To Anonymous #13-
I am not in this race, as I live far South of the 5th District, but have a question. How was it "slanted to say that Griffith has an NRA endorsement" by the poster in #10, when they plainly and clearly stated the endorsement was in the Democratic primary? That seems to state the matter quite clearly to me and not misrepresent anything - or am I missing something other than your support of the other candidate?

By the way, that is slanted to say that Griffith has an NRA endorsement, because Parker is also endorsed by the NRA and is adamantly pro-second amendment. And, Parker has an endorsement from the chamber of commerce, which is assuredly pro-business.

Hey Griffith staffers - quit trying to make your candidate conservative. Why is he running from being a Democrat? Why is he hiding his Pelosi connections? Why is he hiding the pro-choice money he gets? Why is he refusing to say who he will vote for for president? Let's repeat, Griffith is a democrat. In case you still didn't hear the news, Griffith is a democrat. Just because you are twisting and ignoring the facts to get him elected does not mean that the voters are going to fall for it.

Interestingly, a big fat glaring endorsement missing from "conservative" Griffith's list is ACOG, the obstetricians and gynecologists who FIRMLY endorse partial birth abortion. To quote from ACOG in a 2007 ruling, the banning of partial birth abortion is "shameful and incomprehensible." And yet, Griffith calls himself conservative.

#11, based on prior research it has not really been said that ALFA is a big Republican organization. Past endorsement history actually shows them all over the map in regards to party.

There were comments on this blog previously about what a Republican organization ALFA was and how they only supported Republicans. This proves otherwise. ALFA chooses good candidates.

Alfa obviously likes what they see in Griffith . . .

Griffith picks up farmers' support
ALFA official says senator has proved worthy

Against a backdrop of cotton fields and tractors, a Monrovia farmer weighed in Tuesday on who he thinks should be North Alabama's next congressman.

The choice for Madison County Farmers Federation President Rex Vaughn is Democratic state Sen. Parker Griffith, a businessman and retired cancer doctor from Huntsville. Vaughn, whose farm has been in the family since 1825, offered the endorsement on behalf of the Alabama Farmers Federation. ALFA is considered one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the state.

Vaughn said Griffith has already proved himself to be a legislator worthy of the 5th Congressional District seat, with his knowledge of the area from "the fields of research and technology to the fields where food and fiber are grown."

Vaughn said he's confident Washington will respect Griffith's "bipartisan approach."

Also running for the 5th District spot is Republican Wayne Parker, an insurance executive who ran for the same seat in 1994 and 1996, but was defeated by Democrat Bud Cramer, North Alabama's congressman for 18 years. Cramer has endorsed Griffith.

With five weeks until the election, Griffith has also been endorsed by:

The Blue Dog Coalition, a group of conservative Democratic congressmen.

The Alabama Association of Realtors.

The Professional Firefighters Association of Alabama.

The Alabama Nurses Association.

The American Medical Association.

Griffith received an endorsement by the National Rifle Association during the Democratic primary.

Parker has endorsements, too. The biggest name that's been tied to his campaign is President George W. Bush, who had to renege at the last minute on a Parker fundraiser in Huntsville on Sept. 18 because of the financial meltdown on Wall Street.

The Minuteman Project president/founder Jim Gilchrist came from California to Huntsville last month to give Parker his endorsement. Gilchrist gained fame in 2005 when he rallied more than 1,000 Americans to patrol the nation's border with Mexico to stop immigrants from entering the country illegally.

Other Parker endorsements are from:

Conservative Christians of Alabama.

Associated General Contractors of America.

National Association of Wholesale Distributors.

Americans for Legal Immigration.

Ah, it is after 8 AM and the Griffith campaign staffers are trolling the blog world to add their 2 cents on all the Griffith-related items. Good morning, what will the cheesy attack of the day be on Parker this morning?

Wayne Parker blew whatever chance he had in this election with the single worst attack ad campaign in the history of American politics.

The dems are idiots. I could care less if Wayne has any political experience - since when is that the criteria for being a good politician? Lying to me about his past, like Griffith has done, that is the heart of this campaign, and I will never vote for Griffith because he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Give me a break, dems. Try again.
