Retiring U.S. Congressman Terry Everett talks about party politics and the man he hopes succeeds him in Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District in a new ad that begins airing today in Montgomery and Dothan. You can see the new ad for Republican Jay Love here ( Quicktime format). Love faces Democrat Bobby Bright in the November election.

I see there is a “shoot the messenger” fanatic on here… get real buddy. The ad must sting a little, huh?

And the message of the ad….right on point. Why is Bright taking so much money from folks like Charlie Rangle who is in the news again this morning for yet another ethics breach? Whe can Bright not be “his own man” and tell us he does not support Pelosi. Why can Bright not tell us who he supports for President? Could it be he is scared of losing Democrat financial backing? Be a man Bright, you’re own man.

  • Anonymous

%1, I agree that this is Love’s best ad – but that isn’t saying very much. And telling Bright to “be a man?” Bright isn’t the one hiding behind Sarah Palin’s skirts begging “mommy” to win the race for him as he obviously cannnot do it on his own merits (or total lack thereof).

  • Anonymous

    Oops – at 52 “%1″ should be “51″ = sorry

I wonder how Bright feels about certain groups going around to prisons in Alabama to register felons to vote and then following up to make sure they get their absentees and do actually vote. I wouldn’t be surprised if they come pre marked straight ticket democrat. I am fine with certain felons that have served their time, paid their debt, to enjoy the right to vote again. But to go in to prisons, to those that are still serving their time, and actively get them on the rolls? How does Bright feel about that I wonder? Not that he will say. Amazing that democrats actively seek voters still in prison yet are less than helpful when our soldiers over seas want to vote absentee. Go figure…

  • GOP a crumbling party

No one in this race represents San Francisco values!!!
Jay Love is the closest thing why have to a big time city slicker. As a State Representative he voted for big interest! He voted against Gov. Riley(R) when it came to the big oil companies. Jay Love sided with ExxonMoblie allowing them to rape Alabama of its natural resources tax free. Clearly it was not a party vote. Although Gov. Riley is a Republican at least he is a populist. Jay Love is not and never has been!!! Love is not what District 2 needs! And the last thing I need is a Congressman with a lisp who can’t control his actions telling me that Bobby Bright is a liberal. Everett should have never been elected in the first place. He wrote a million dollar check, hired a DC firm, and got elected not on his own efforts but the efforts of another. The last thing we need is a coattail riding republican do0nothing state rep who doesn’t have the balls to stand for himself ruining Alabama.

  • Anonymous

“balls to stand for himself” ? That is amazingly ironic. Does Bobby Bright have the “balls” to tell us who he supports for President? The “balls” to tell us who he supports to lead his party in the House? Afraid not.

And to say that a total unknown who was elected to Congress by beating a sitting state senator and then someone with a legendary name like George Wallace, Jr. got elected not on his own effort? Your credibility is truly “crumbling”

  • Anonymous

52, you want to talk about hiding behind someone, that would be bright hiding behind Pelosi’s pant suits and her checkbook. Don’t think Palin is cutting the 600,000 check that Pelosi cut to Bobby.

  • Anonymous

Jay Love hiding behind Palin? That makes no sense. Jay Love is proud to support McCain and Palin and is algad to be on the same ticket.

    McCain/Palin – Jeff Sessions – Jay Love

    Obama/Biden – Vivian Figures – Bobby Bright

Who is doing the hiding folks?

  • Anonymous

Post 50 – that is total and complete un truth. Wow. Talk about being a liar. Your sour grapes stink…badly.

  • George Jones

“Jay Love is just a plain ole liar”

  • Anonymous

You got to love good ole George Jones….when he is sober maybe.

Danny, have you done a story on the get out the vote drive in prisons? Interesting topic.

GLAD THAT POEPLE ARE FINALLY TAKING NOTICE OF WHO IS FINANCING BRIGHT’S CAMPAIGN AND THAT HE RUNS FROM THEM HOPING NO ONE WILL NOTICE.

  • Anonymous

one thing i think is funny for all the folks who don’t think Terry Everett is an important endorsement, is the fact that the Democrats are pounding their chests and trying to fool people with an endorsement by Gerald Everett, terry’s brother. Headline of Dems website, “Everett Endorses Bright” – yeah, Terry Everett’s endorsement must not mean anything. one thing i’ll give bright’s folks and the aladems they are masters of voter confustion… i thought they were just full of sht, now we see they are completely full of sht.

Has anyone noticed the soldier, in uniform, in one of Bright’s ads? That poor guy. They put his career at risk. That is a violation of the UCMJ….he is subject to disciplinary action for that. You can’t appear in uniform solely for the purpose of a political ad like this. It is strictly prohibited. I don’t blame the soldier – I blame Bright’s folks.

  • Anonymous

I don’t care who says Jay Love is a liar; the fact is he did nothing to disprove it which tells me he is a liar.

    I CAN NOT TRUST LOVE!!!!!

  • Anonymous

The facts are Jay Love put out and advertisement saying Smith received gambling money from Country Crossing when CC has not even been built yet. He is just a liar, and someone that I too can not vote into congress.

  • Anonymous

65 and 66 – ahhhhh – the days of harri anne and ronnie gilley – what a nice memory. take your false accusation elsewhere. if you rely on the likes of gilley and his possy then be my guest – shout that garbage from the roof tops. Don’t pi%% all over us and tell us it is raining buddy. We don’t buy it.

  • poster of 66

#67 What is untruthful about what is stated in either one of those post. Did Love not approve and ad that said Smith took gambling money when no gambling money has ever been produced?

Don’t just say I am wrong, prove me wrong!!

I just state the facts. This does not even bring up the fact that Love denies meeting with him.

  • Anonymous

Jay Love IS hiding behind mommy Sarah Palin’s skirts! His new slogan is “Goo goo gah gah Jay Love!!!!!”

    What a whiney RINO wimp.

  • Anonymous

    Is post 69 on meth?

  • Anonymous

never said gambling money said she took money from gilley who was a gambling developer

  • Anonymous

It is indeed a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice to see a soldier in their uniform in a political ad like the one Bright is running.

  • Katlyn

Just saw Jay Love’s new ad in Dothan. It’s paid for by Freedoms Watch, a group founded and funded by… wait for it… wait for it… a Vegas casino owner. No kidding! I’m not creative enough to make this stuff up. Google Sheldon Adelson. Jay Love’s new ad is being paid for by Vegas money!

  • Anonymous

A conservative from Vegas? Go figure. And who is it that is funding Bobby Bright? Oh yeah, it is Charlie Rangle, Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean’s Democratic National Committee. Give me Vegas all day long.

  • Katlyn

You need to research this guy. He’s put more money into China than any other US investor and he’s a billionaire casino owner. So the question is, “Who do the voters dislike more, Mrs. Pelosi or Mr. Adelson?” (The liberal lady or the guy who used his gambling money to ship jobs to China?) And I want to know who will invest more in the campaigns.

  • Anonymous

I would bet that district 2 would choose a conservative minded businessman over Pelosi all day long. Freedom’s Watch is a good group and they promote solid ideals. Look at their website if you wonder what they are about. That is more than I can say for Rangle and Pelosi. We know what they are about. Bring that fight on KT

  • Katlyn

Are you saying that Freedoms Watch is NOT funded and founded by a casino billionaire who spends more money in China than any other American? Because I can show you the links to Sheldon Adelson. I do not think your boss would want to stand next to him and say he’s “a conservative minded businessman.” Adelson wants Congress to pass more trade give-aways to China. He’s toxic in Alabama.

  • anonymous

Sing it from the roof top Katlyn! Jay Love should be proud to align himself with the Vegas Mob. Thats why he is called the BIGGEST LIAR in the political arena. Hiding behind coattails of others while doing more whining than any wimp I’ve ever known. Can’t stand on his own, thats a gimme and people are tired of the lies.

  • Anonymous

Thanks 78 – I love when democrats pitch a fit.

  • Anonymous

This blog has taken a turn and many of you should be ashamed. The foul language and name calling is pure trash.

  • Anonymous

I just wikipedia’d Freedoms Watch. If they are backing Jay Love, he has some explaining to do.

  • Anonymous

    http://www.freedomswatch.org/freedom-watch-content/learn-more.html

educate yourselves folks. this is an organization to be proud of – don’t let Bright’s spinners fool you.

  • Anonymous

Below is from the link above…… The majority of voters in District 2 will agree will all Freedom’s Watch stands for. And their support? From individual’s and businesses alike…not just Adelson. No explainin’ to do here…

WHY SUPPORT FREEDOMS WATCH? Freedom’s Watch distinguishes itself as the first full-time nonpartisan movement dedicated to preserving, protecting, and defending conservative principles and promoting a conservative agenda. In the past, the conservative movement came strongly together during election cycles but weakened its presence during off-cycles. Freedom’s Watch is a long-term movement that will be a force for conservative action from year-to-year. Freedom’s Watch is dedicated to helping build a stronger, more unified conservative movement for generations to come.

CORE ISSUE AREAS: We will have four fundamental issue areas that are generational in breadth and scope.

*The dangers of radical Islam and the emerging Iranian threat

*Advancing a conservative agenda and market-based solutions to pressing domestic problems

*Standing up to Big Labor’s radical agenda

*Preventing the degeneration of our society by stopping the legalization of controlled substances.

  • Anonymous

A group of rich Jewish Republicans met in Florida and began Freedoms Watch, because they wanted to protect Israel from Iran. A simple Internet search bares this out. It will take you 30 seconds.

As Pro-Freedom Watch poster #83 clarified, their first “fundamental issue” is to focus attention on “the dangers of radical Islam and the emerging Iranian threat.” Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino owner, remains the guy behind the group. (By the way, they refuse to disclose the amount he’s put in so far.)

So you can call them anything you want, but they are founded and funded by a billionaire Jewish, Vegas casino owner who wants America to take on Iran. (Adelson also wants more “free trade” with China, as he’s America’s biggest investor in that country.)

These are simple, undisputed, verifiable facts. You can go to the Freedoms Watch website to get a look at their lipstick, but seeing the real pig will take you less time. Google. Yahoo. Wikipedia.

  • War Eagle 34

#83 agreed on emerging Iranian threat
who is tyring to legalize what?
You spout off so much that it is impossible to take you seriously.

  • Anonymous

Freedoms Watch isn’t a good group to be playing in Alabama.

  • Anonymous

So – you guys are against jews and believe we should not see Iran as a threat. hmmmm – interesting. I doubt Bright would agree with you.

  • Anonymous

I’m against rich casino owners of any kind who want us to bomb Iran.

  • Anonymous

Nice 88, real nice. talk about being an extremist…you are one. I guess the ad stings Birght, huh?

  • Yoda

The Republicans must be worried to bring in the Dark Lord himself and now to unleash these Siths on Alabama.

Interesting fact. Terry Everette was an actor 20 years ago. He was with Lucas Films. They wrote him into Star Wars Episode VI. But before production began, his role was cut, Jabba the Hut’s kid brother seemed too divergent from the core plot.

But here is the really interesting twist. Jay Love was scheduled for Episode 1 as a dark prince. But he didn’t have the stature to act along side Senator Palpatine and Darth Mal. So they flipped him and re-wrote his role for comedic effect as Jar Jar Binks. The rest is history.

Much knowledge I give you… thank me you will.

  • Anonymous

Witty – but what a whack job, 91.

  • Anonymous

Wow what a dork. Star Wars? Dems are just plain old idiots

  • Yoda

You just assumed that Yoda is a Dem. That would make the Emperor a Republican. Like it, I do.

  • Anonymous

wow. this thread has taken a turn for the worse. i like it better when Ronnie Gilley is posting, at least he’s just a redneck and not a complete nerd.

  • Yoda

I’m playing the nerd to make you laugh. Can I get a grin? Just a little one? It’s Friday! Let some of the piss and vinegar go.

  • Princess Amidala

I know that most of you assume I’m a Democrat, because I did not turn to the Dark Side like Ani. But after I learned that Sarah Palin conceived before wedlock and that her daughter did as well, I found kindred spirits in the Republican Party. I’m sending my maternity clothes to Bristol and will volunteer as a tutor and speech coach for Sarah.

I also think John McCain is waaaaay hotter than Yoda!

  • Anonymous

The last thing Sarah Palin needs is a tutor or speech coach. That has been proven.

I think this thread has run its course. We need a new one.

Danny, you should post the new Freedom’s Watch ad to get us going again and keep us out of Star Wars. But it is Friday after all so the humor is actually appreciated.

I wonder how many dem candidates in AL would actually wear that – besides Artur Davis.
