The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is running an ad targeting Republican AL-05 nominee Wayne Parker. Parker is facing Democrat Parker Griffith in a contest to see who will claim the north Alabama Congressional seat made open by the retirement of Democrat Bud Cramer.
Is this a foretaste of what we might see in the AL-02 race?

we can TOTALLY expect this in AL 02. They have stated they will spend 600,000 to do such. Yet Bobby Bright says he doesn’t want to talk about party, “negative campaign” etc and when asked about the ads the national democrats will run, he says “I can’t control that” Of course he can control how the national democrats act in his race. But, I say bring it on. When the voters in district 2 see and hear “paid for by the democrats” then Bobby Bright can no longer run and hide from his party. It will do Love more good than harm in my view. So bring it on!
No. 1 brings up a good point. The only scenario better for Love when someone runs a negative ad will be if moveon.org is on the disclaimer.
Anon,
If the DCCC does decide to go against the wishes of Bright and goes negative who cares!!! You AL GOPers are starting to sound a lot like national liberals after the 2000 election. With all your grumbling, whining and crying!!! In my view, ads like this one point to the facts whereas personal attack ads (family, past life, questinong honor and character) do not and ruin the political process.
I hope that DCCC targets Rep. Love on his committee vote when Love decided that it was in his best interest to vote against Gov. Riley and side with ExxonMobile over the interests of Alabamians. Just another case of elitism from Mike Hubbard his stooges, especially his little puppet “Subway Sandwich” Love! Where does he get the nerve. Rep. Love does not represent hard working everyday citizens and he should have his title revoked. I think that DN. Love (Do Nothing Love)is the shoe that best fits!
You all need to worry about Jay Love ruining things for himself; He is already using his own money to run a negative ad that came out this week.
Goes against Bright’s wishes? When has Bright ever condemned the Dems ad buy? Bright is LOVING the Dem ad buy for $600,000 in negative attack ads. Bright is a hypocrite and the great part of it is that everyone is seeing that now. Spend the devils money to claim you something you are not – shame on you Bobby.
I actually think that is an effective ad, and if they run ads like that against Love it will score points in the district.
Exactly! trying to frame this as “going against Bright’s wishes” is amazingly ridiculous. He has counted on that support and that type of campaign from the start. it is totally within his wishes that the democrats do this. this awww shucks son of a sharecropper let’s all sing amazing grace crap is just that…crap. he is a hardcore democrat with democrat backers that will run negative ads attacking a republican … end of story. and i’m not whining – i love it as this will only help Love. It defines bright as a big ole’ dem – which is what he is.
Agree. Bright has been bragging all over Montgomery since last fall that the Democrats “committed $1,000,000″ to his campaign. Now Pelosi is coming in to make good on his commitment to her to vote for her for Speaker and he is loving every dollar of it.
Bright is a total fraud when it comes to saying he is against partisan politics. he is relying on Obama to turn out a huge african american vote in his favor and also relying on the dems to finance his campaign and run hegative ads against a republican to the tune of almost 1 million dollars. but hey, he lived in dale county over 30 years ago so let’s vote for him! yeah…right.
Nancy Pelosi is placing a television buy to attack Jay Love starting tomorrow. Here comes Nancy and Bobby!!
The well informed voter would notice that, with the exception of the Redstone Arsenal, a good steward of the taxpayers’ dollars would certainly try to cut funding for the TVA and NASA- two useless government bureaucracies that waste tax dollars on enterprises private companies could do five times as better and in a more efficient manner. Redstone is important on the war on terror- TVA is a government controlled monopolising company that controls energy output for much of Tennessee and N. Alabama in which private companies cant compete due to government rules and legislation, not to mention the inability of consumers to dictate prices through competition. As for NASA, if it were to be properly amalgamated into a branch of the military, or better still were the processes of NASA taken over by private enterprise, as Virgin Atlantic is currently doing, the taxpayer dollar would not be wasted continuously on stupid pet projects of ambitious government bureaucrates.
i just wonder when the heads of the dem party are going to ask bright why he’s embarrased of the party. i mean you got the big whigs in alabama like nancy worley (that’s big), turnham and hubbert who are so proud of their party, but bobby can’t even mention why he is a dem. sad bobby. sad. millions of americans have obamamania and think the world will change by being a democrat, but bobby would rather trick people into thinking that he’s a republican, why? if republicans are soo bad, why is that the only party referenced in his ads. bobby’s a joke
So is Parker Griffith, for that matter. A corrupt good ol’boy Democrat in the mold of Bud Cramer before him, up there with the best of them like Roger Bedford, trying to confuse the voters in north Alabama plagued by vestiges of hopes for a more conservative Democrat party like Griffith masquerades so well, while he sits comfortably in his gerrymandered state senate seat reaping the plunder of special interest lobbying groups’ pork and handouts from the AEA, labor unions, who cares?! more pork Sen. Griffith!
I say like I have many times before- Wayne Parker needs to point out to people that they’re suffering a classic Democrat trick of getting Blue Dogged, just like Bobby is trying to pull off in the 2nd district.
true conservative voters need to pull up their bootstraps, get over the primary, and send a message to the Communists in the Democrat party leadership that they won’t get fooled again by smoke screen “conservative” “independently minded” Democrats. and you know what Democrat means? anywhere?
Here you go: it means socialism, anti-semitism, giving up national sovreignty, losing freedom of speech, and lots and lots of free, taxpayer funded partial birth abortions.
I LOVE THE FACT THAT IT HAS TO SAY, AND ALSO BE IN WRITING, THAT NATIONAL DEMS PAID FOR THIS – THAT WILL ONLY HELP THE GOP CANDIDATES.
I thought it was a well done ad.
And, with an independent expenditure, can Bright really tell the DCCC what to do? While there may be improper conversations going on, technically speaking neither Bright nor Griffith have a say over what the DCCC runs.
yes, you can refuse the DCCC. If Bobby or Griffith really wanted to be honest with the voters, they would follow Boyda’s lead

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has pulled the plug on $1.2 million in advertising time that would have benefited freshman Rep. Nancy Boyda. It’s not an indication of Democrats’ pessimism in Boyda’s chances; rather, the time was yanked at Boyda’s request….

I love how Republicans think they can hurt Parker Griffith by tying him to Bud Cramer. It came up on a radio show they other day with Wayne Parker and now it is coming up in these comments. Yes, Parker Griffith will follow in Bud Cramer’s foot steps. And that is a good thing for North Alabama, because Bud Cramer always put his District first.
Bright could totally pull the plug on the Democrats national media on his behalf – but then he would have no money and they are the ones financing his campaign in large part.
Wait a minute #18. Which is better, an outside financed campaign or one that is personally financed, as is Jay Love’s? You can call Bright out for having DCCC money backing him, but Jay Love has RNC money behind him, and his own dollars. I didn’t think Republicans were crazy about rich elitists, or is that only at the national level?
You can make all the arguments you want, just be consistent and take a minute to think through the potential hypocrisy that you speak of.
Ya’ll think a minute before you fire off attacks of either candidate and think about how your own guy can be vulnerable to the same attacks.
jay love is not embarassed by republican party funds, his own funds or individual contributions which currently are pouring in. ask bright how he feels about his own donors. I wish the press would publish who has given to Jay Love and who has given to Bobby Bright. Believe me, that is not something Bright wants known. And as Bright’s spokesman said, the folks in this district are too dumb to know who his donors (such as charlie rangle) are anyway – at least that is what Bright is counting on.

IMO NASA is a Constitutionally-okay function of Government. What company would want to go to the Moon, or could afford it? Virgin and x-prizes are possible only because NASA did the science.

I am extremely proud of Bright and the professional manner in which he has managed his campaign. He is his own man and certainly conveys that message well to all Voters while informing them about his stance on the issues. This country was built on a two party system. His name appearing on the democratic ticket does not mean he won’t owe the same morale and fiscal responsibilities to the 02 Voters as will his counterpart. Party leaders are aware that he is capable of crossing over as necessary to vote responsibly for the country and this 02 district. This is what all Voters know about him and the reason they are going to propel him to Congress.
