this is such a joke. the DNC will unleash negative ads on Jay love to the tune of $600,000 worth. All Bright says is “I cannot control that.” Like he## he can’t. He is a total hypocrite – it is an act if I have ever seen it.

Hi. see this little girl here with the pitch fork? that’s nancy, she’ll kick my ass if i don’t vote her way.

  • Justalurkin

Another great ad from the Bright camp.

Wow. Great follow up ad. I have a picture like that of my family, but we only had 7 kids, and I think we need a salt of the earth type as our Congressman. He can remember not having nothing, and that will drive him to get the job for all of us! GO BOBBY GO!!!

  • Bright loves Pelosi

Thought Mr. Bright was Mr. Positive

    #6….What was negative about that?

  • Justalurkin

The ad will have a negative impact on Love’s next poll.

    Jay Saves!!

    Praise be to Jay!

    I pray to baby Jay!

    10 you’re dead wrong.

The kool aid drinkers in the Love camp will ensure they find a skewed poll to keep up morale within and for the true believers which shows Love up 30 points.

You did say “Love’s next poll.”

  • um...

    I assume #10 was sarcasm.

  • Tips

I was here earlier and Bobby picture was the first on here.I don’nt understand that.

This ad is not as good as his first.

this whole dale county thing is a joke. he hasn’t lived there in over 30 years. and sure, son of a share cropper…. i wonder why we don’t hear him saying he is a lawyer, the mayor of Montgomery and a DEMOCRAT. Jay Love doesn’t have to run from his roots, his business success, his party or his donors. But Bright doesn’t dare say those things about himself in the wiregrass. he will not even say who he is supporting for President. i guess he wants to be a member of congress that always votes “present”
…what a sham… but as is spokesman has said, they are counting on the voters of this district to be too dumb to figure out what he is really pulling and who is financing his whole act.

  • MrJinks

So which one in the picture is the famous bootlegger brother?

  • At least half a brain

#15….The problem is that Jay Love is not running from his party. Instead he is just lining up.

    END PARTY POLITICS!!!

  • Anonymous

If Bright wanted to end partisan politics he would run as an independent..NOT a DEMOCRAT. Bright is a liar and shallow.

  • 02 Voter

I like the add and think it shows Bright has alot of maturity and demonstrates a first class act in his stating that he does not care for partisan politics.

  • anonymous

I see the Love campaign whiners are busy again tonight and must be on overtime status. What a shame on his part to allow the sarcasism from his headquarters. This demonstrates ignorance, not statesmanship on his part.

Bright has NO record. Say what you want, but being the Mayor of a town and a Congressman are vastly different.

Let’s point this out, if you think Bobby is starting off like Everett (no experience), and you think Everett was a bad Congressman, then you have a weak argument.

However if you feel Everett is a good Congressman, you have to lookat the fact that he endorsed Jay Love, and feels Bright will be bad for the area.

Also, people on this blog criticize Jay Love for having certain lawyers backing him. That is crazy, because Bright was a lawyer for 15 years!!! Are you kidding me? If you have a problem with lawyers, look at who is backing Bright, as well as his record as an attorney.

None of these issues point to a strong candidate. Bright is trying to pull a fast one here in CD2 and continues to belittle the average voter by thinking they are too uneducated to see through his smoke and mirrors.

Jay is a leader and has shared values with CD2 voters that he is not afraid to hide from. All you here from Bright is about his past (wow!! 1 of 11…that really makes me think Bright is soooo wualified!). Jay offers change, hope, and valid ideas for CD2. Love has the experience in politics and as a businessman to do great things for this area…that is why I and thousands of other voters will vote for him.

bright’s commercial is another “i’m a son of a sharecropper, vote for me” while love is showing he will protect jobs and the local economy by support of ft rucker. tells me who has their priorities straight and who is just putting on a show. bright…all show.

  • Vote for Change

Bright has already proven that he is a true leader. Not just in the race for Congress but also from his leadership role in getting things done over the past several years. Bright is widely known for his numerous accomplishments. He is definitely not a procrastinator. Love can say anything he likes but I can assure you he can’t provide any facts on his accomplishments except he owned a sub shop which he sold to run for Congress.

Bright – in front, has lead, has the MO-Jo working in a district that has gone R for over how many years????? Boo Hoo- I guess we will soon find out. If Bright is such a liberal why are so many R’s voting for him?? Even your own polling data is telling you that; are your ready?? Read this slow so you can understand…… Only 52% of dedicated R’s are voting for Love.. Now that my friend is a fact not just a remark…. I gues there are just a lot of liberals down here in the wire grass… Sad ain’t it.

  • Anonymous

that is not true. Jay has a 10 point lead in the latest poll and growing. Lat week it was 6 points…now higher. Poll to be released soon. Quit speading lies.

  • Anonymous

It’s sad that Bright staffers can;t answer for his liberal ways and comments. Bright is losing support in the wiregrass and never garnered any in Montgomery as constituents see the results of his lackluster job as Mayor.

Bobby…please tell us how you will tax us more and lose jobs at Rucker and Maxwell for CD2. Thanks for nothing Bright.

  • lake martin

Bright will have to answer to Dick Graves about his abnormal affections.

  • SamfordDem

This is the kind of ad that will protect Bright somewhat from the negative onslaught ahead. He wants folks in the Wiregrass to see that he is one of them; if he is successful at that, as HAS was, then negative attacks against him will only tick those people off.

  • Vote for Change

All the Wiregrass folks know Bright is sincere about his campaign and his knowledge on the issues facing all Americans today. Those who know him well trust him and believe in what he stands for. No guess work about it when it comes to him addressing the issues and he never has a need to read them from a script. He knows what people need and expect from him and he is the man who has the ability to to deliver. This my friend makes a huge difference and clearly separates him from his opponent since people are comfortable with him and are convinced he is much better qualified and clearly The Best Choice For Congressman. Mudslinging/Love = nothing

  • Anonymous

This ad is well done. I do not think it is as strong as his frst ad, but still far better than Love’s. Love needs new material and something to distinguish one ad from another – he uses the same stock footage in EVERY ad. That’s just being lazy . . .

  • Anonymous

Bright’s whole campaign is a scam hoping the voters of the district are too stupid to figure it out. Just ask his campaign spokesman who just admitted that very fact to the NY Post. But then again, they are counting on the belief that folks around here can’t read and certainly not anything from New York!

  • Antisthenes

Anonymous in number 28, please enlighten us as to what poll shows Jay Love ahead by 10 points. Is it an actual scientific poll or is it a poll of all of the old coffee drinkers at the local diner at 6 in the morning?

  • Anonymous

35, i’d probably put more value in the 6am coffee drinkers poll than i would one from the AEA. at least those folks are in touch with the people on the ground, in the churches and on the streets, not just trying to make a poll look good enough to release

Does anyone know what time Bobby Bright will be speaking at his party’s convention this next week in Denver. I want to make sure I catch his speech. — Does his mentor, Nancy Pelosi, decide his time slot or is it Obama who will decide?

  • Anonymous

In DC now and have spoken to several sources who confirm Bobby Bright is lying about his party affiliation on purpose. This is a Democratic strategy designed to get into office. Once in office, the candidate goes back in line with the party. Look at voting records of recent Democrats elected to congress and you will see that they campaign one way and vote (or don’t vote at all) another.

Bright is mentally weak and will not do what he says. If he is elected the 2ndCD will pay dearly in jobs and taxes.

Quote by Robert Novak after studying Blue Dogs and their votes on key issues in Congress.

“What is clear is that Blue Dogs are neither conservatives nor independents. They only campaign that way. They are hoping that in November they can ride through the current political ethos for at least another two years.”

This is an excellent article from May 2008.

Bright will not show his face at the dem convention. nor will he say who he will vote for as president. hmmmm…..a conservative he says but he will not say he prefers mccain over obama. total fraud bright is…total fraud.

  • Anonymous

(sorry if this is a repeat….but)
Apparently Bright wants to vote for Artur Davis for President. Maybe he will write him in. As quoted on this blog before I believe…..

To me, I wish he’d run for president,” Bright said. “Next to his mom, I’m his No. 1 cheerleader.” (Roll Call, May 22, 2008)

How refreshing, Bright admits he does wish a Democrat would be President and all all people….hopes it is Artur Davis.

  • Thomas Jefferson

“Mah upponent wunts a partizen faght”- I love the accentuated southern drawl there, you ol’ Blue Dog you. Too bad your party’s platform centers on decreasing US sovreignty, Marxism, and anti-Semitism. You’re no southern conservative, Mr. Mayor. You’re a prop for a party trying to smoke screen disenchanted conservative voters, only to be reeled in by your Communist financiers once in office. Your party’s southern values are about as southern as Mao Zedong. Go put on your Che Guevara shirt, wave around your little red book, and sing the Internationale with your friends Nancy Pelosi and Charlie Rangle at the Josef Stalin sing a long in Denver, Mayor Bright.

  • Justalurkin

TJ – Do you win a lot of folks over to your way of thinking by spouting such garbage? BTW, you are aware that T. Jefferson was an alcoholic and an adulterer aren’t you? Seems he enjoyed fornicating with the unpaid help.

  • [...] Democratic nominee Bobby Bright went back on the air today on Montgomery television in his campaign for the 2nd Congressional District seat. As mentioned here yesterday, he put up a new 60-second TV spot in the Dothan market that you may see here. The 30 second spot that is running in Montgomery now is this one that had been running in Dothan. [...]

Regardless of Political Stripes Vote Tomorrow

As an elected official, I am tuned into voting habits and practices. Call me a political junkie, but I am fascinated by the whole electoral process—what age group votes most often, what issues motivate them and what media outlet is the most effective. While all of my interest in the political world is a hobby [...]

My Time is Up

I write this blog with some mixed emotion. Over the last eight years I have served in the House of Representatives, and this Thursday will most likely be my last day in session as a House member. Of course, my term goes until November, and there could always be a special session at [...]

TRYIN’ TO CATCH UP

I’ve been in Venice on a little vacation and just returned last night.  I’ve been trying to catch up and see that there have been few dramatic events in the last 10 days.  I thought the www.fivethirtyeight.com piece was especially good, though the comments reflected the anti-Alabama knee-jerk reactions of those who live outside the [...]
