I had the same feelings Dan has now when I shut down PoliticsInAlabama.Com.

The more Alabama Political Bloggers we have the better and I am sure Dan has inspired others to start blogging.

That’s a huge shame. His website was amazing. I really did read it every day. There are so few good Alabama blogs left in the game. I blog about the state a good bit, but it’s only from time to time and whenever the mood strikes. Parlor and Daily Dixie were great with everyday content about cutting edge events.

I’ll do what the conspiracy blogs do — connect two things that have nothing to do with each other to explain something:

Daily Dixie is gone because of his recent criticism of the Schnauzer guy and Locust Fork guy. Those two met with Scott Horton recently, either in New York or Monroeville. Horton agreed to begin attacking Dan in the pages of Harper’s, and then they were going to get Jill Simpson to sign an affadavit that changed her story yet again to say that Dan was in on that conference call, too, and delivered her photos of Siegelman to Karl Rove. Before you know it, the House Judiciary Committee would certainly be holding Dan in contempt.

A damn shame. Being sort of isolated over in East Alabama where we get lots of Georgia news I read this blog for statewide news but I loved the spirited discussions on Danny’s blog.

I hear that he is re-doing his site and renaming it “IllegalSzhitzu.” I will also miss Dan’s insights, cool photographs, and other neat stuff that he shared with us. I blame Paul Hubbert, Lowell Barron, Alice Martin, and Karl Rove.

I certainly respect Dan’s decision which I must assume was based on personal matters that no one has the right to question, but I doubt that anyone will miss Dan’s blog more than I will. Dan was more helpful to me in my quest to help make Alabama the 25th Initiative and Referendum state (see http://www.doctoriq.com/)than anyone was. He also gave great support to the effort of the Democracy Defense League (http://www.thedemocracydefenseleague.com/)to help stop voter fraud in Alabama through its legislative agenda. The DDL agenda is my other main interest in the world of Alabama Government/politics. “God speed and good luck to Dan in whatever direction he takes now” is my wish for him.
