Four years ago no one had ever heard of a viral video. There was no such thing as youtube (or if there was, it was in its infancy), so JibJab was novel. Now this kind of stuff is everywhere, and this JibJab video isn’t particularly impressive. It’s not newsworthy just because they made a clever video four years ago. Is anyone still covering the campaigns’ MeetUp groups? No. And no one should cover this either.
By the way, this isn’t really a shot at you, Danny, as much as it is at Cable News for covering this on the hour like it’s a headline story the day it was released. This video belongs here on a blog, getting posted a couple of days after it’s released. That’s the level of priority it deserves in the news cycle.
What it doesn’t deserve is the coverage it got on Wednesday on the TV news outlets. Sorry if my first comment sounded like a shot at this blog.
