AL-03: Segall Has 2nd Strong Fundraising Quarter

Filed under: Campaign & Election, AL and DC — Danny @ 10:21 am

Alabama with the 3rd Congressional District highlightedJosh Segall, Democratic nominee in the 3rd Congressional District, is reporting raising $276,000 in the 2nd quarter, and has $410,000 cash on hand. (See the release here in a .pdf file.) Campaign spokesman Don Weigel points out to the Parlor that Segall has more cash on hand than the state’s other Democratic nominees for Congress, Bobby Bright (in AL-02) and Parker Griffith (in AL-05).

Kudos to Segall. You probably heard the speculation like I did that Segall’s strong first quarter ($270,000 raised) was unlikely to be repeated, that he had gathered the low-hanging fruit available through his father’s lawyer connections, come back and see us if you can do it again.

Well, he did do it again, gathering more in the 2nd quarter than he did in the 1st, and in both quarters he outraised Rogers. The incumbent Rogers still has an imposing two-to-one cash advantage, but in a district drawn to be a swing district, this is starting to look more interesting.

  1. He should use some of that Trial Lawyer money to hire someone that understands possessives and can proof read a press release.

That thing is rife with typos.

  2. Good for Segall and the AL-03. A competitive, hotly contested race is healthy for democracy.

  3. Great job Josh on beating Rogers for the second straight quarter! Segall’s fundraising ability is no fluke, and he now has a significant amount of cash on hand to show the voters that the third district is ready for a change.

  4. I’ve been really impressed with Segall. He’s showing really strong support and defying the odds. Rogers is out-of-touch and knows his money wont go as far as it has in the past. keep up the great work, Josh!

  5. Josh Segall is doing a tremendous job establishing the framework to run a strong and successful campaign. The evidence can be found in the amount of money he has raised this cycle, specifically in this quarter. Keep up the great work!

  7. Rogers is so out of touch and the voters are recognizing it. Segall is the wave of the future!

  8. I don’t know about typos, but it’s clear Segall has adopted the George W. Bush tactic of using bumbling speech to try to attract the votes of the hoi polloi. It’s funny to see such rambling in print.

  9. It’s about time people start paying attention to the Segall for Congress race. The Third District has lacked leadership for years and years. Our jobs are going overseas, our economy is in the dumps, and our Veterans aren’t being taken care of. Josh Segall will do something about these issues. Let’s give him a chance!

  10. Spence, Alabama Girl, Jewels, Josh is the Man & War Eagle:

Are you Segall campaign staffers, family members, or just free lance supporters who like to parrot campaign talking points as if they are original ideas? War Eagle, if you are not on staff, you should be. You did a better job of articulating Segall’s message than the candidate did in that press release.

  12. If you go look at Rogers’ press releases, most of them have him announcing grants for some volunteer fire department. If not that then he is announcing some high tech equipment for one of the counties. The truth is he had nothing to do with getting those grants and all he is doing is taking credit for other peoples work. For example, here is October 2006.

    * Rogers Announces $15,875 Grant for Rockford Volunteer Fire Department (October 25, 2006)

    * Tallapoosa Law Enforcement to Receive $2,454 for New Bulletproof Vests (October 11, 2006)

    * Talladega Law Enforcement to Receive $4,500 for New Bulletproof Vests (October 11, 2006)

    * Russell Law Enforcement to Receive $19,000 for New Bulletproof Vests (October 11, 2006)

    * Roanoke Law Enforcement to Receive $6,300 for New Bulletproof Vests (October 11, 2006)

    * Lee County Law Enforcement to Receive $8,000 for New Bulletproof Vests (October 11, 2006)

    * Calhoun Law Enforcement to Receive $10,000 for New Bulletproof Vests (October 11, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $418,238 in Grants for Talladega County Fire Departments (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $184,775 for Standing Rock Volunteer Fire Department (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $365,275 in Grants for Russell County Fire Departments (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $579,461 in Grants for Randolph County Fire Departments (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $178,600 Grant for Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $182,875 Grant for Mt. Weisner Volunteer Fire Department (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $58,875 in Grants for Macon County Fire Departments (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $225,150 Grant for Farmville Fire Department (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $347,377 in Grants for Coosa County Fire Departments (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $139,181 in Grants for Cleburne County Fire Departments (October 4, 2006)

    * Rogers Announces $33,250 Grant for Buttston Volunteer Fire Department (October 4, 2006)

This would be fine if there was anything else there but it is clear his absolutely bottom of the class power rating reflects what he does. Nothing but campaign for re-election. By the way JD Hogg, I am not on Segall’s campaign staff, I have lived in the 3rd CD for more than 35 years and Rogers is the laziest, do nothing, dumb, poor excuse for a human being to represent the 3rd CD in all that time. I am sick and tired of in effect having no representation in Congress.
