Cheryl Baswell Guthrie is running an ad for her GOP primary runoff campaign for the 5th Congressional District. Here is the RealMedia version that I received, and here it is converted to an .mpg file because I want to do my part to keep you from having to use RealMedia software.
I confess that I have watched this ad 8 or 10 times or more. That may say more about me than the ad.
She faces Wayne Parker in Tuesday’s run-off. The winner will face Democrat Parker Griffith in the fall.

how weird…..
When is Cheryl Baswell Guthrie planning on addressing the Council of Conservative Citizens?
Looks like something Tim Burton would produce.
With read hair she would look and sound just like Dana Jill Simpson.
Has anyone ever seen them together??????
um, yeah, that would be “red” hair.
Its appropriate she has a monkey in her ad. If I didnt know better Id swear thats whose been running her campaign.
Who’s that committee supposed to be? And what distracted me from what they were saying was the Maryland flag in the background. And what’s with the music during her speech?
Any politician that has the sense of humor to put a monkey in her spot gets my vote.
The reason the rumors are getting play is because they are part of an orchestrated campaign conducted by his political enemies. The “blunders” as you describe them, are not blunders, so much as they are items which liberals and the gay lobby use to lampoon King. Even so they are not well known by your average “man on the street” but merely internet chatter. If King were not far and away in the lead for the 2010 race, this preposterous trash would not be pumped into the blogosphere.
As far as your claims that King has high negatives, that was not indicated in the poll results I saw, and was not reported in the Tuscaloosa news article on the Anzalone poll, so I have to be curious as to what poll your are referring to. Perhaps your own internet poll?
[...] Monkey actors – Ineffective in a bit role in Cheryl Baswell Guthrie’s ads for AL-05, can only hope for a revival of Lancelot Link. [...]
Chimpanzees are not monkeys. They are apes. Same thing for gorillas and orangutans. They are also apes, not monkeys. Monkeys have tails. Chimps, gorillas and orangutans do not; therefore they are apes.
