Posted by State Sen. Harri Anne Smith has a TV ad out this week in her campaign to claim the GOP nomination for the 2nd Congressional District. Smith faces state Rep. Jay Love in a primary runoff.
The ad prompted the Governor to say that he did not give permission to use the footage, though he did not ask that the ad be pulled.

Gilley could not run for Smith’s seat as Coffee County (I assume that is where he lives?) is not in Smith’s district. But on that note, there are a couple of businessmen in dothan that have said they have interest in running for the seat whether she runs again or not.
By George, I am appalled that ole Gilley would contribute money to HAS, if this is the truth as I understand it from you posters, My question is then why would she take it knowing well she was against the CC from the onslaught. By George, now it appears that someone is lying although the truth shall set ye free at the polls.
I heard HAS’s reason for pulling the bill she first proposed. But, can anyone tell me why she would risk losing the votes of those who opposed the project by attending parties and being photographed with this Gilley guy? Seems like she’s rubbing it in some faces. This is just my take on what I’m reading. Correct me if I’m wrong. Am I missing something?
She is desperate to win – but it is an error to take up sides with Gilley – bad call Smith, bad call.
Looks to me like Jay Love was pretty anxious to take up sides with Gilley. And so was Dax Swatek since he went to the meeting.
You are nuts if you think Dax was at that meeting. Nor was Swinehart going around with Smith, for example. Those guys don’t do the everyday courtesy calls. That tells me a lot about what you know….or don’t know I should say. And Love has been anything but showing he was taking sides with Gilley as Love is opposed to gambling and has not waivered from his position. you can’t say the same for smith.
Jay Love would no more associate with Ronnie Gilley than anyone else would trying to get elected. The only ones snookered by him are the Houston County Commissioners. I wish the Dothan Eagle had published the photo of HAS on stage with this Gilley partying at Shicky G’s in Enterprise. Oh, this was before he called a press conference to practically disown any relationship with her. We’re still waiting for Gilley to break some ground at CC. Maybe HAS can get a job there in 2010 because she will be giving up everything for it and the developer. Jay Love DID NOT LIE. Get a life, Gilley !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harri Anne Smith did not take a contribution from Guilley. Jay Love’s ad said that she did. It was the warrant for her so called flip flop on gambling. She did not check the reports. HOW IS THIS NOT A LIE????

I certainly believe money was indirectly given to HAS by Gilley. She was shown in a picture on a news forum partying with Gilley at Shicky G’s in Enterprise AFTER his participation in the fundraiser and BEFORE his comical press conference attacking J.Love. I know one thing. Jay Love never went to Gilley to demand money. What idiot actually said that first?
In press conferences, candidates usually have family with him. Gilley had George Jones. Is that the best he could do to sound believable?

#64 Jones at his news conference? He seems to think George Jones is the second coming for Enterprise’s economy. Gilley feels self importance being seen with GJ. He’s obviously star struck and loves the attention.
To what really matters… HAS, Consultants B&B, and Ronnie Gilley have fractured the GOP in our district. The only people I know voting for HAS are democrats that want to see Bright win in Nov. They know Jay Love can possibly beat Bright , but Bright will eat her for lunch. Toast on the menu.
Most agree, I think, that Gilley has been an albatross around HAS’s neck. This campaign goes deeper than Jay Love being attacked by Ronnie Gilley or any ad running on tv.
Harianne went against her own financial backers and friends who have always supported her and completely caved in to pressure to help Gilley and Country Crossing/Bingo Slot Machines. The campaign has been in tatters and I think she’s hanging on a thread. She said she wasn’t for gambling….next, she attends Gilley’s social functions, including being photographed with him. You can’t be everything to everyone. At some point you have to take a stand. She just keeps throwing him in the face of the people…..especially with that little drama on tv by Gilley. Last minute trick, I guess.
Post 65 is right – Dems would love to run against harri as bright could beat the pants, i mean dress, off her. love will make it tough for bright.
Oh yeah Jay’s unmarred record. You guys do have some ocean front property in arizona cause you will believe anything. Guilley gave money to Smitdke or whatever his name is. Citing overwhelming opposition from her constituents, Smith later backed off the bill, and now Gilley said he wants to show his support for her.
“I believe in letting bygones be bygones,” Gilley said. “She stood up to some major legislation after she retracted her bill. She did stand up in opposition to legislation that could have totally, 100 percent, killed Country Crossing. For that, I’m thankful.”

She was willing to allow a vote. If Guilley and Harri Anne are such buddies why did he endorse and support the Good Doctor genius. Not to mention he was like one of ten “hosts” for that party. He did it because someone asked him to and it was in his best interest to play along. Jay has just gotten him pissed now because he lied about him.
Why was it in R.Gilley’s best interest to “play along,” JLT ? Gilly and Smith became “buddies” after she pulled the bill which would have allowed citizens to vote.
Don’t think it takes a rocket scientist to see which puppet he can pull the strings on? I doubt he coulda pulled the “good Doctor Genius” strings so easily. I think he figured that out.
Pulling strings? Harri Anne did not even support Country Crossing she just offered to let people vote. Ronnie Guilley just does not appreciate Jay Love peeing on everyones legs and telling them that its raining.

Jay has already visited Fort Rucker, and has plans to do so again after he WINS the primary I’ve been told. I’m sure people in Montgomery wonder why they don’t see HAS at Maxwell…the fact is they are both representing different districts right now and have responsibilities to their respective constituents. Have you seen Bobby Bright at Rucker frequently? Once Jay WINS he will be at Rucker in force protecting our interests in the Wiregrass. Come on people..no matter who wins, we need to unite behind the Republican candidate.
Jay Love never said he was agaginst Country Crossings. He may be against gambling, but he has clearly stated that it is a local issue and will not be involved. Let’s unite this party, otherwise only the Democrats will win.
