Congrats to Whitmire, B’ham Weekly

TrophyHats off to Kyle Whitmire of the Birmingham Weekly whose column, “War on Dumb,” won first place for best political column in the 55,000-and-under circulation division at the 13th annual Altweekly Awards in Philadelphia. The column on politics in Alabama and Birmingham is week in and week out a worthwhile and interesting read. There’s no counting how many times I have started a conversation, “Did you read what Kyle Whitmire wrote about [Birmingham mayor] Larry Langford this week?”

Whitmire adroitly chronicles the Birmingham political circus so you don’t have to work so hard to keep up, makes the pathos entertaining to read, and wins awards while he’s at it. Congratulations, sir.

Thanks to Kathy.

As the news media and political ads have taken to the air debating Governor Riley’s raid on Victory Land and Country [...]

HAPPY FEBRUARY

Under the “B” … June 1

I’ve tried to follow BINGO rules and BINGO raids.  I’m not sure I understand the law, nor do I get the motives of many of the principal players.  I bet many of you know a heck of a lot more about this than I.  But one thing I am [...]
