AL-05 Candidates’ Debate Last Night - Updated
Democratic and Republican candidates for Alabama’s 5th Congressional District participated in a 90 minute debate last night. The Huntsville Times has an account of it here. Flashpoint and Left in Alabama offer their takes on it as well. (See the comments at Left in Alabama where the debate was “live-blogged.”)
“Live-blogged.” This is not my parents’ language.
Update: WHNT-TV has the debate online. They will also rebroadcast the debate this weekend. The schedule for rebroadcast is here.
Also, A Bama Blog offers “a few thoughts” after watching the debate.

Danny this race isnt getting near the heated comments that the race down in the wiregrass is getting. You have over a thousand comments on that thread but not even a hundred on this race. By the way Doc Mancuso went up with an ad a few days ago. Tommy Battle is up as well with an ad in his race for Huntsville Mayor. The Huntsville TV stations must be loving all this.

This looked like a political thread until that catty comment. Your parents were bloggers, too? Still got their clay tablets?

Catty? What’s catty about it? I like thinking about language and the way it evolves. Yesterday a friend mentioned that someone was “a broken record” in their repeated behavior, and I couldn’t help but wonder if our children will use the term “broken record” or if it would become obsolete. Even briefly considered doing a light, off-topic post.
My parents were definitely not bloggers, and that’s why they would shake their heads if they heard the term “live-blogged.”
Language evolves, and I think it’s interesting.
So how is that catty? Perhaps you misunderstood something?
