Pecan Jim, what I said about Senator Mitchell can be substantiated by looking up his telephone number in the phone book, or asking his neighbors who lives in his house in Montgomery. I don't think that it's irrelevant when a state senator is not complying with Section 47 of the Alabama Constitution, do you?

He does not want this to be a place where people do the equivalent of a drive-by.

I might add, that if Norris had represented Oklahoma while living in Nebraska, how much worse would that be than for Alabama State Senator Wendell Mitchell’s representing SD30 while actually residing in Montgomery in Senator Dixon’s SD25?

Sharp-eyed Anonymous, obviously I made a mistake. Norris was a Nebraskan. I wasn’t fully awake when I posted that. LOL!

Re: the Times-Daily very interesting article, “75 years of TVA: A new start”.

This was previously posted on Dan’s “Daily Dixie” blog @ http://www.dailydixie.com/2008/05/18/may-18-in-alabama-history/:

“A dam, a lake, and a city – all in Tennessee – are named after George Norris, although he was a United States Senator from Oklahoma.

Norris was one of the principal advocates in congress for the Tennessee Valley Authority. In a sense he was instrumental in figuratively and literally turning on the lights for much of rural Alabama and other states in the region.

At the same time, he didn’t neglect the Nebraskans he represented. Almost solely due to his efforts at the time, the voters of Nebraska entirely restructured their state legislature.

Alabama needs a George Norris to shine a light on the way to a better legislature.”
