The Political Parlor on the Road

The Democratic National Convention in Denver will have a “State Blogger Corps,” one per state, that will be credentialed and seated alongside the state delegations at the Convention in Denver. When I applied for the Political Parlor to represent Alabama there, I thought the Clinton-Obama drama might create a convention even more exciting than most, but that part of the story now looks to be finished by convention time. Regardless, I am glad to learn that the Parlor has been accepted as Alabama’s credentialed blog at the Democratic National Convention.

congrats – however, somewhere in locust fork, Glyn Wilson is sitting in a dark padded room surrounded by birds, & chugging boones farm to dull the pain of not being chosen. i mean, how could they overlook the guy that exposed karl rove, freed siegelman and made dana jill simpson a national hero? hope you’re happy danny, crushing the dreams of such an icon.

Congrats Danny – good work. We’ll anxiously await your reports!

  • Are you going to the Republican Convention too? I believe May 15 is the deadline for blogger applications.

  • Congratulations, Danny! I look forward to your reports.

  • Thank you, folks, for the kind words.

Anonymous in #8, I actually had occasion to meet Glynn for the first time recently, and he was quite nice. A good guy. I have no idea if he even applied for this, but if he were to attend, he would serve his audience well.

Mooncat, I would love to go to the GOP Convention. Many real-life considerations made it feasible to only go to one convention, so I applied for the one where I thought the action would be. The GOP race effectively ended much earlier, and the Dems had talk of a floor-fight or a deadlock at the convention. Plus, the Democrats were overall more intentional about encouraging bloggers to attend (arranging for one per state and more, etc.).

However, if you knew somebody who wanted to underwrite a second trip…

  • Danny, well-heeled Republicans are your best bet for underwriting a trip to the GOP Convention. I’m afraid I don’t have much influence with that crowd so you’re on your own.
