Republican Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh is having a Fundraising Reception this evening at the home of Dax Swatek for her candidacy for the Public Service Commission Presidency. If you are interested in seeing who signed on as the Host Committee, here’s the list.

  1. Bettye Fine Collins? Can’t imagine Twinkle would really want Bettye Fine’s support.

    BFC has been absent a few times from recent Jefferson County commission meetings. Is she too busy planning Twinkle’s party?

  4. Riley aint’ corrupt, but he hasn’t done too good in recent republican primary elections. Twinkle’s problem is that she’s not qualified. No ifs ands or buts about it. Mike Hubbard has said privately that he inherited a party that was $150,000 in debt. Twinkle did know how to hire people and paid way too much for health insurance.

  7. Does Twinkle have a law degree or any background in economics or utilities? I think she is basically a party hack/good person. She would do well as a secretary of state, constable, coroner or county commissioner, some post that doesnt require a lot of gray matter. I suppose Alabama Power and ATT will teach her all she needs to know about consumer’s rights and utility economics between now and then. I heard a rumor at the country club that Perry Hooper, Jr. was her tutor. No joke.

  8. Twinkle doesn’t have the qualifications to be in charge of anything. Her record in everything she’s done is spotty, shotty and unimpressive. I like Jack Hornady. He actually knows about the PSC and wont need Hooper to give him a tutorial.

  9. Jack Hornady is so unquestionably best for this position that the other two candidates - both clearly unqualified - would withdraw if they really cared about Alabama.

  11. For comment number 7 above: the answer - which should be repeated as often as possible - to your qauestion is that Twinkle has ZERO qualifications to be PSC president. She has no experience with the PSC. She has no experience working with a utilty. Jack Hornady has almost 20 years of experience in working with the PSC and over 20 years of experience working with a utility. I don; think the other candidate in the race - Matt Chancey - has a single qualification for the PSC.

    There is no clearer choice on the ballot this year, and there may never have been so obvious a choice on an Alabama ballot. Jack Hornady is easily the right candidate.

  13. Speaking of Perry O. I saw his “Lil Bro” on APT-Capitol Journal Monday night hyping the AARP legislative agenda. He appeared much sharper than his older brother. Is it just me or does AARP seem to be getting involved in everything? He went on adnauseum yaking about access to healthcare and financial security for those 50 and older. It’ll be interesting to see if his 500,000 members crack going up against big Pharma and the Nursing Homes. It seems as if he may have lit a fire under those old timers.

  16. Conwell isnt running for PSC, but if Twinkle were a male, she would be perry jr or conwell. there are not 3 brain cells between them. I give 2.75 cells to the hooper’s on experience alone.

  17. I found the clip from the APT/ Capitol Journal from Monday night. Despite what MM says, Perry ’s “Lil Bro” did well in Prime Time. After watching the video, I would join AARP if they would accept members under 40.

  18. Where has this Hooper been? After watching the link, it appears he is very passionate and passion sells in Alabama.

    Reading between the lines, I think AARP has plans of attacking the nursing homes. All they needed was a leader and apparently they have one now. With 500k soldiers in their army, they can put the fear of God in people.

    Jimmy, if he did the Alcatraz Ironman, I believe that is a 2 mile swim in frigid temps, a 100 mile bike and a marathon. He can’t be too soft.

  19. It would be impossible for any Hooper to perform such a complex task. Perry Jr and his people like Jack Campbell now running Twinkles campaign, narrowly avoided arrest/indictment for shaking down regulated utility sub contractors. I am happy Conwell can read and that he has kept a low profile relating to his family’s judgment problems. Apples dont fall far from the tree. Twinkle and Perry Jr make a good Siegelman style wrongful prosecution story bordering on silliness, but if any other Hoopers or danny martin and jack campbell are in her campaign; all conspiracy theories are off. Ask Harri Anne Smith and Shashy about campbell and martin?

  20. Twinkle Cavanaugh is basically a spoiled rotten Debutante/Dillitante, who has had a “free ride” on life due to “Daddy’s Money”.

    She is a classic example of “The Peter Principle”, where “hacks” are promoted to their respective level of incompetency.

    What a moron!
