Senate Race Poll

U.S. Senator Jeff SessionsIn the state’s U.S. Senate race, Republican incumbent Jeff Sessions leads Democratic challenger Vivian Figures by 21 percentage points, 57% – 36%, in a poll released this week by Rasmussen Reports. Who knew anybody was polling this?

Could anything make this race competitive? Lanny Young on a witness stand? Doesn’t seem likely.

Sessions has it made. Total cake walk.

40% is the Mondale Line. (Like .200 is the Mendoza Line in baseball.)

40% is the amount Mickey Mouse or Marilyn Manson would get as the Dim nominee for something.

Vivian, at 36%, is not even minimally competent as a candidate.

The fact that nobody North of Mobile County has ever heard of Senator Figures and she still got 36% is pretty amazing. Once she starts campaigning she will jump to 45%. Just not sure that Session will ever fall to below 53% though.

While all of my interest in the political world is a hobby [...]

My Time is Up

I write this blog with some mixed emotion. Over the last eight years I have served in the House of Representatives, and this Thursday will most likely be my last day in session as a House member. Of course, my term goes until November, and there could always be a special session at [...]

TRYIN’ TO CATCH UP

I’ve been in Venice on a little vacation and just returned last night.  I’ve been trying to catch up and see that there have been few dramatic events in the last 10 days.  I thought the www.fivethirtyeight.com piece was especially good, though the comments reflected the anti-Alabama knee-jerk reactions of those who live outside the [...]
