You must be talking about a different forum. At the one I attended the Minute Men, League of the South folks and allies in the room produced such rude boos and catcalls that the police stepped forward and asked them to be quiet. They did not stop immediately and Sen. Beason then stepped forward and said, "Y'all, let her speak. She'll only hurt her cause."

The anger and hatred were palpable and we sat through over an hour of heated comments. It was sad because I believe that many people were operating more out of fear than solid information on the subject. It was also sad that so little respect for the First Amendment was shown by people who were waving flags.

Helen, the only hateful people at the immigration forum in Huntsville were the pro-immigration people who drew police attention for aggressive and intimidating acts.

Amazing how we don't see the beams in our own eyes--Sen. Beason warns "This process transforms individual thinkers into group thinkers. Since the sense of belonging feels good, the threat of group disapproval inhibits members from voicing divisive views."

That's really funny coming from the abetter of a public hate session on immigration in Huntsville where anyone who expressed a moderate view was booed and disrespected.

So Beeson doesn't want a book that in any way critiques his religion in the classroom. He favors only works that praise his religion. That's why this whole idea of teaching any "Bible literacy" class in public schools flies in the face of the First Amendment.

What a nut! I highly doubt this book has anything to do with "communist brainwashing." The publishers of the textbook have issued a response on their site that seems very balanced in response to this.
