The Alabama Line is being updated and will return perhaps as soon as the first week of February. The Alabama Line and its contents are the creation of Doc’s Political Parlor, reflect consensus from insiders and well-connected folks on both sides of the aisle, and will be updated as conditions change. That is bad news for Alabama. Steve Raby would have been a great Congressman. Maybe in a couple of years when Parker follows the Riley path to the Governor’s Mansion Steve can run then.
[...] Doc’s Political Parlor: Raby Not Running for AL-05 Seat [...]
He may have made a great Congressman, but he had very low name ID. With a two-month sprint to the Primary staring him in the face, I guess he decided he didn’t have enough time to boost his numbers.
What on earth makes Raby qualified to be in Congress? He’s just a political hack. I mean, he’s a good political hack but that’s no basis for saying he would be a great Congressman.
He was Chief of Staff to a Senator (Heflin), and if you know him, you know he’s a very good person and a brilliant guy.
Being a COS and brilliant falls in with being a good hack. Still doesn’t make him a great Congressman. I don’t really have a thesis for why he would be that bad, I’m just saying the declaration that he would have been good in Congress seems a little premature.
I guess you have to have been a republican hack/staffer (like jo bonner) in order to be qualified to be a good congressman.
A “good” chief of staff would have had a hanky in the pocket instead of panties. Who all remembers that embaressing moment for Heflin?
Can someone please get JD a dictionary?!
