So Ms. Simpson submits an affidavit, testifies under oath at length, generally backs up her statements, does not have a history of lying, is not directly contradicted by anyone, and _she's_ not credible. Whereas Rove has a long history of lying, a history of doing more or less what Simpson accuses him of doing, defies a Congressional subpoena to testify, does not release any e-mail related to the issue, issues non-denial denials, and doesn't produce a scrap of evidence that Simpson is lying. Ouch. Seems to me that Simpson is not the person with a credibility problem.

Isn't the burden of proof on her? She said they met. He denies it. Does she have proof they met? He doesn't have to prove they didn't. This is ridiculous.

The Bush Justice Department has been politicizing our judicial system since Day 1. This is not some isolated event . . . it just happens to be one of the most serious and egregious. Sure, the justice department has prosecuted members of the GOP (and elected GOP officials). It is a massive organization that prosecutes thousands of people every day. That in now way, however, disproves the fact that there were political prosecutions. Every decision at Justice might not be decided by politic. However, as this case shows, far too many of them have been in recent years. Siegelman's case is a prime example of this.

I also wanted to state per above I am not saying there was nothing wrong with the prosection of Siegelman - I think that there were certainly political elements to it. But Jill Simpson is unbelievable and if the Siegelman people get too close to her they are liable to be seriously burned.

Danny you really have to hand it to the Siegelman backers. Their really standing up for their pal. Oh by the way, an interesting development happened this morning in Memphis. This same Bush Justice Department that forced poor old Sue Schmitzs hubby out of his house in his underwear and that supposedly framed Siegelman with the help of Rove, took down a prominent GOP official in Memphis today. They got Shelby County, Tn Commissioner Bruce Thompson(R) to plead guilty to a felony mail fraud count. They also indicted Williamson County Sheriff Ricky Headley(a prominent GOP official in middle tennessee )and forced him out of office two weeks ago. They also raided the office of Gulfport, Ms. Mayor Brent Warr this week. Mayor Warr is also a Republican and he was on Haley Barbours short list to replace Trent Lott in the US Senate. Someone better get word to those Justice Dept officials in Nashville,Gulfport and Memphis that their not suppose to arrest GOPers.

This is obviously much bigger than a he said she said between Karl Rove and Simpson. There are so many disturbing things about this case you can't add them all up. From the coercion of Nick Bailey to the involvement of Bill Canary, this is the most corrupt political prosecution in the history of Alabama. It's time Mukasey or Congress get to the bottom of this.

Interesting that Simpson didn't swear before congress that she had ever met Karl Rove when she testified, but on TV she asserted it.

Sometimes our own words betray us.

She is not credible.
