It was a pleasure for me to attend the annoucement of Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright's candidancy for congress in Ozark,Al. today. There was a great showing of family and friends despite the weather forecast.
Now the Demos have gotten a good candidate to back.I really couldn't have thought of a finer man then Bright .He has a proven record.
 WAY TO GO DEMOS!!

GOPer you still miss the point. Every person who gives a dime to Rino Love or Grimes will have Bobby Bright looking at their FEC contributions and knowing about it and YES it IS affecting how much Love and Grimes are raising - you think Bobby Bright will only be able to raise $60K? He'll get $250,000 at his first fundraiser, and Harri Anne Smith will probably do that well also since she is raising her money OUTSIDE the range of Bright's power base.

No one doing serious business in Montgomery wants to take CHANCE ONE with a sitting mayor - even in the primary. Bright's memory is as good as Emory's about who gives what, and Bright won't like it if a big-money Montgomery type gives money to ANY opponent at ANY time - the same way that Emory would have taken note. That has been a political fact of life in Montgomery since Emory Folmar perfected the art of donor intimidation in this city. If you don't know that GOPer you have no working knowledge of Montgomery politics.

The proof is in Love's FEC report. There is NOT ONE contractor with the city of Montgomery on it, and NOT ONE true power player on it either.

Wishful thinking Nope. Even if some folks in Mgm are hesitant, those in the wiregrass could care less about Bright in Montgomery. What makes you think they will not support, financially, a Montgomery candidate in the general? That was your whole premise...that a Montgomery candidate would not have as much support. Believe me, they will ahve plenty of support come the general election if they win the primary.

You don't understand, GOPer. The mayor of Montgomery controls city contracts - those people will NOT give money to a possible opponent of a sitting mayor. Bright knows this as does Emory Folmar. It is a fact of life in Montgomery. And it won't matter if it is in the primary - Bright learned from Emory to read those reports. The city contractors - and those who WISH to have contracts and inflence in Montgomery - won't contribute to Love or Grimes; notice how the simple SPECULATION that Bright may run has kept the "big dogs" out of Love's coffers so far? No Aronovs, no Blounts, no big money?

You're wrong Nope. believe me, there are plenty of folks that will give to a rep. over a dem regardless of him being mayor. money will not be an issue in this race as both sides will be able to raise. in terms of a base of votes, all that is thrown out the window in the general election. all of what you said would be true if bright was in the primary race as a republican. but because he is not, your comments fall flat.

Goper, your reasoning does not hold water. Harri Anne would be much stronger than Love or Grimes. She doesn't share Bright's base in votes AND money like Rino Jay and Grimes. Love and Grimes won't be able to raise money in Montgomery against a sitting Montgomery mayor.

It will be a good race. I just hope Harri Anne smith is not the Republican nominee. If so, Bright has an excellent chance of winning in November. Sad but true.
