Anecdotal Evidence of High Dem Turnout

Vote ButtonA Republican who has canvassed some contacts tells the Parlor that we may be looking at higher-than-normal Democratic turnout in predominantly Republican boxes. His own experience and that of others he talked to suggested that precincts in Homewood, Hoover, Mountain Brook, and Shelby County were turning out easily more Democrats than normal.

He speculated that “soft Republicans” might be turning out for Obama. Another possibility is that Republican-leaning independents might believe that McCain has the nomination wrapped up, and so they may be crossing over to vote against Hillary.

Too soon to put much meaning in this, but it will be interesting to see if this holds up in the end-of-the-day accounting.

I think Ben Lodmell promised hookers to all the democrat voters today.

I’ve been to 11 different polling places in Birmingham today and at every one, the poll workers told me that turnout was very high with large numbers of first-time voters.

I’m a republican but i voted dem today…for Hillary. I believe she will be easier to beat in Nov. I doubt I was the only one…

  • Reactionary

My polling place had slightly more GOP voters signed in than Democrats when I voted. Also, the people I saw ask for Dem ballots were all senior citizens – younger people asked for GOP ballots.

If Republicans are voting in the Dem primary, I hope they are voting for Hillary.

Why would young people vote GOP?

  • Susan

More Republicans than Democrats voted yesterday. In 2000 (last contested primary on both sides) way more Dems voted than Republicans. This is actually a HUGE turnout for Republicans.

As usual, the buzzards are out in full force with cheap jokes and “good ole boy” feigned humor. This is what they do when they “think” they smell a carcass. Just hold on good buddy….put your stones down and rest assured that the “Lodmell Camp”….is very much alive. Even with this “temporary” shift away from his issues of obvious political corruption and blatant racism within the political system….the fact remains concerning the latter two evils. Again I say, unless YOU can walk on water….put your stone down.

    R. Johnson unless you mean Lodmell is physically alive, I’m gonna have to disagree with your delusions of grandeur.

His solicitation charge leaves him far more dead politically, than did his youtube clips.

Senator Larry Craig (R. Idaho) survived politically after being arrested for soliticiting a male under cover police officer in the mens bathroom at the Minneapolis airport.
Rep. David Vitter (R. Louisiana)survived after his use of prostitutes became public.

Hang in there Lodmell, if they can survive you can too!

  • R. Johnson

Thats okay Nixon…. I presume you are not from the United States where there is a who’s who list of political scandal survivors…..and there also is a little troublesome clause which declares “innocent until proven guilty”…. Put your stones down and rest your hands……

Thanks Bhmhomeboy for the observation that you made. Haters do what they do best….hate!!

Senate Passes Ban on No-Bid Contracts–Makes State Government More Accountable

I am very pleased that Senate Republicans joined with the Senate Democratic Caucus this week to pass a major piece of our legislative agenda.  SB 52, sponsored by Senator Lowell Barron, will end the abuse that we have seen of the awarding of no-bid contracts.  During Governor Riley’s seven years in office, he has awarded [...]

Working in the Bubble

I often hear a lot of talk about the bubble of Montgomery. From time to time I am reminded about this and it could never be more glaring than the current debate regarding gambling. As the news media and political ads have taken to the air debating Governor Riley’s raid on Victory Land and Country [...]

HAPPY FEBRUARY

Under the “B” … June 1

I’ve tried to follow BINGO rules and BINGO raids.  I’m not sure I understand the law, nor do I get the motives of many of the principal players.  I bet many of you know a heck of a lot more about this than I.  But one thing I am [...]
