Cavanaugh ‘Seriously Considering’ PSC Race

Twinkle Andress CavanaughA GOP insider and close friend of former state GOP chair Twinkle Cavanaugh tells the Political Parlor that Cavanaugh is “very seriously considering the race for Public Service Commission President,” and adds, “she has the grassroots network in place” who “could make it an all-female race” if Cavanaugh runs against Democrat Lucy Baxley in the general election. Cavanaugh is now Gov. Riley’s Deputy Chief of Staff.

Even Alabama Power deserves to be fully represented on the PSC.

Twinkle needs to run. I like Lucy, but her days are over – please go hom and rest Lucy. You deserve it.

Twinkle couldn’t even make it to the runoff in 2002 when she ran for Treasurer. Republicans can find someone much stronger than her. If they don’t, we’ll be looking at a 3-0 Dem PSC.

No. 3, I guess Tim James should go ahead and fold his tent under your rationale. If Twinkle really wants to run, I don’t see how she’s loses.

  • Anonymous

Yes exactly, Twinkle is about as good a candidate as Tim James is for Governor. About a D+.

  • PikeCountyguy

Glad there are so many hillary loving dems on here. baxley and folsom – now there is a fine pair to run. i’ll take james and twinkle any darn day.

  • Anonymous

true. atleast twinkle and james will likely stay sober in their jobs.

  • ishouldn'tsaythis

Twinkle will run, er, roll lucy all over the state.

Baxley should retire with whatever dignity she has left.

  • Twinkle is a nice person and should campaign well. My only reservation is that if George Wallace, Jr. decides to run, Twinkle should hold off. Otherwise, Ms. Cavanaugh is a respected individual who meets people well and makes a positive impression.

  • GOPer

agree with john on this. if wallace, jr, wants it, he will get it. I like twinkle though – more power to her!

First of of all, comment number seven should not say alot since the republicans have Kay Ivey…when is the last time she has been sober?

Twinkle has no name ID statewide and it will take alot of money to get her name ID as much as Baxley. She is also good freinds wtih Phyllis McCrary, the CEO of Alabama Powers wife.

  • Kneepads

With all due respect, does any consumer in this state think Twinkle would do anything other than precisely what APCO told her to?

She has zero credibility here and needs to go away in this race.

  • KAKer

Lucy needs to just take it easy – it is obvious. Its a shame that someone that has lived off the public payroll for so long…just doesn’t know when to stop. She wants to be like Strom Thurmond I guess.

  • Anonymous

She made most of her money off real estate. She does not beed the money.

What is the PSC Pres.’s salary/perks? Just curious.

  • Bob

Twinkle is a joke. Anyone who runs in the Republican Primary would beat her and that includes Hugh Cort

  • Bob

    Bob the loser…back again

  • tcavanaughsupporter

twinkle was actually the first women ever to be Republican Party Chairman. So i guess that still leaves her without a state ID #11
