Tim James to Run for Governor in 2010
Republican Greenville businessman Tim James told the Parlor today that he will not run for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District and will instead run for Governor in 2010.
“I’m going to set my sights on [the Governor’s race in] 2010. We ran before [in 2002], but timing is everything. That was not my time. Now, it’s a different day.
“We’re going to be early. We’re not going to be late to this race. Polling data tells us that we are in a very strong position to win the [GOP] nomination.”
James had been been considering a run for the Congressional seat that Republican Terry Everett is vacating, but instead he becomes the first person to declare publicly his candidacy for the 2010 race for Governor.

James, with his easy access to cash and his ability to actually sound like he knows what he is doing (even if he doesn’t,) puts him way ahead of the potential candidates mentioned in the Congressional race for district 2. So, he could have won that race according to many folks. But, I guess now we are left with the second tier folks.

Anyone who discounts Tim James is this race is foolish. He has the money and - UNLIKE 2002 - he is in this race early enough to be a factor. He’s articulate, impressive, successful, and able to articulate issues easily. He’ll be formidable.
