The so called “Community College Corruptiion Probe” is nothing more than an attempt to destroy the Community College System and the Educational Trust Fund. Of all the corruption to be “probed” the Community College is not one of them. How about “probing” the REAL culture of corruption and cronyism?
So the kickbacks and payoffs to Legislators are not REAL Corruption. Crimes by those who live on the public payroll are the highest form of corruption. There should be a minimum five year sentence (all to be served) for any elected official convicted.
It’s only REAL corruption if Democrats, low income citizens and minorities are the TARGET. Let’s get REAL and look at who exactly benefits from the Community College System. The Community College system was designed to provide low income students the opportunity to continue their education after high school or to learn a trade or vocation. The majority of low income students in Alabama are African American. So let’s be REAL and call this “probe” what it is.
How come the Birmingham Noose isn’t calling for a “probe” of this:
News link – Riley’s 2002 and 2006 may have violated campaign reporting law by improperly reporting use of corporate airplanes and improperly reporting donations.
Anonymous, check the url of the story, its on http://www.al.com the website that hosts B’ham News.
Actually, bhmhomeboy, historically speaking the Community College System was designed as a means to offer political payback to George Wallace supporters, particularly in the legislature. In truth, the state has too many of those colleges, as their use for political capital proved so successful, Wallace continued using them far past their point of use in educating students.
By the way, I would hope that as someone who cares for the education of African Americans, you would be outraged at attempts to take money designed to further the education of African Americans and transfer it to the pockets of political appointees who provided little to no service to community colleges.
Further, to remove the Caps Lock, merely press the button a second time.
Will, I know how the the “Caps Lock” operate. Further, I know why the Junior college system was “designed”. Originaly it was designed to teach students a trade after high school, but today a majority of students use it as a gateway to four year institutions of higher learning by providing general education courses.
Most of the workforce in Alabama is provided by the Junior College system. Examples are nurses, electrical engineers, computer specialist, machine tool technology, and areo space technology.
The Junior College system provides low income families the means to provide higher education opportunities for their children. Because of the rising cost of tuition low income families can’t afford to sent their students to Auburn or Alabama.
I am outraged by the attempts to destroy the Junior College System for political gain.
The Community College system was designed to provide George Wallace’s cronies with high paying jobs that made them sound important. President of the Eastern Lower Bevill, a little tougher than a High School, Junior College.
Homey, How do you come up with this sort of stuff? What makes you think that anyone is trying to destroy the Community College system? It seems to me that rooting out corruption and theft in the system will only improve it. BTW, the community college in my area keeps growing and improving. It doesn’t seem to be under threat of destruction.
As I said in my previous post, this is a veiled attempt to destroy the Junior College system for partisian, political gain. There is nothing wrong with the Junior College system.
Happy New Year.
And I asked you what you makes you think that. Do you have any evidence?
Homey, Thank you for the new year’s wishes. I hope you have a happy new year too and a successful 2008.
